Hi i am a 32 year old female and first had CSR 2 years ago it lasted afew months then dissapeared however on Jan this year it returned, My Opthamologist said it was due to stress and i was to try meditation. My eye cleared up again and on follow up appointment the consultant told me my eye was like a flooded field and will continue to get damaged if this keeps happening. Now i just started a nursing degree and last night the CSR has returned i'm terrified i'll go blind i dont feel really stressed so i have no clue why this keeps happening, i'm also a healthy eater. Any information or help would be great.
Thanks Audrey

I am so sorry your eye condition keeps returning. It seems that at present nobody really knows for sure what causes it. You are so young to have such eye problems.
Stress. In your obviously busy life you may not be aware that you are stressed. Take a step back every day and allow yourself moments of relaxation.
Fatugue may be another cause of CSR, and again, you may overlook that, while psychologically you are all geared up to get on with your work, the body may need a rest.
As you know, usually the problem resolves itself, but each time it happens there is a risk of damage to the macula, so you need to do all you can to prevent it. Sometimes laser treatment is used if all fails. Has your opthalmologist mentioned it to you?
For what it is worth, the use of steroids may be another cause of CSR, but I feel sure that this does not apply to you.
I am sorry I can't be of more help to you. I wish you the the very best.
My Consultant did explain it's like a flood in a field everytime this happens which really scares me.
I probably have overdone it the last couple of weeks with decorating my house and starting a new college course i will take your advice relax more and get more rest. It just makes me feel sick and dizzy heres hoping it clears up soon.
HI. I was diagnosed with cSr in 2007 I was 44. Apparently it is rare and the cause not known I did not match the criteria for having it. My sight started to deteriate I was funded for pdt laser treatment. Unfortunately it is classed as chronic. I no longer drive and life became a struggle. However you will learn to live with the condition there are a lot of aids available such as magnifiers and discs for yor laptop to enlarge everything. Try to stay positive and carry on with your studies. Get in touch with RNIB for support.
Audrey, do you have severe myopia or some shaped macula? My car has been related to that. Also I had it after cataract surgeries but that time it went away. I have it chronically in left eye.
Hi Audrey, I feel your pain and depression on your eye issue. I have been dealing with CSR for up to 13 years and the past 3 years have been treated with laser treatment and eye injections which to me are the worst. I am so afraid Iam going to go blind in that eye, so I keep up the injections since the laser didn't work for me. They say its more common with type A personality which I have, but iam otherwise pretty healthy, personal trainer workout 5-6 days a week eat right and Iam not a diabetic....far as stress we all have it in our lives, but nothing bad. Iam just upset i have to get these shots every month in my eye or I can go blind they say. Sorry to hear about your new condition with this hopefully you will have better luck. Pat
