My mother suffers from wet AMD (both eyes) and she has been receiving treatment with Lucentis injections for the past 5 or so years. About 3 months ago she started complaining about some haziness in her eye. She had an OCT a week ago and her Doctor said there was no any blood leaks. Then my mom mentioned ( once again) that despite the (apparently) good news her eyesight keeps getting worse. Thus, she had her eyes checked for cataract and she now has cataract on both eyes. The "hazy" eye is more advanced (eyesight is 2/10) and she is going to have an operation in 10 days.
Does anyone know if the cataract surgery will bring the eyesight back to levels before the cataract appeared please? For example 3 or 4 months ago her eyesight at that particular eye was about 6/10. Then the cataract appeared and it dropped to 2/10. I was wondering please if the cataract surgery will help recover something, maybe bring it back to 5/10 for example.
Many thanks!

You can’t predict exactly how far the sight will come back, I don’t think
Having had both cataracts done in December though it’s made a huge difference to me, and a great improvement
There is every chance for great improvement. Mine was fantastic! My doc though would only give a " guarded prognosis" as he said they couldn't tell how much of my haziness was my eye condition and how much due to the cataract.
From what you've written I'd guess your mum will get a good result. Here's hoping x
I had both eyes treated with cataract surgery & both eyes are treated with eylea. Excellent result in left eye. right eye little change. No way of knowing how much improvement you are likely to get. Best of luck.
