Hi guys, just been in Boots. Their macushield gold is cheaper than macushield basic and there's a 3 for 2 offer on. Just saved £60!

Thanks for sharing eyesright. Still expensive but a very good saving. Will call in after bank holiday so hope the offer is still on then. Am I right in thinking that some people have managed to get this on prescription? 2468G

Hi yes I get basic macushield on prescription ( as my condition is still being treated). My hubby who had a retinal artery occlusion many years ago doesn't qualify hence my Boots purchase. I believe the rules on ' supplements' are being reviewed but so far my repeats are being fulfilled.

Unfortunate coincidence you both having serious eye probs. Glad you get your macushield on script or it would be a big expense every month. Wonder if my ongoing treatment for CNV qualifies me. 2468G

MY husband buys them from the internet for £17 odd a month. They seem utterly genuine. I know it's not "safe" to buy stuff on the internet, but so far so god.

I'm just too wary. Although even the big companies get scammed too I know!

I do to they look exactly same as sample hospital gave me and if you subscribe to monthly order get a bit of discount..

Is Macushield Gold the one which carries a health concern for anyone with liver problems? From memory I think it contains zinc.

I am fortunate not to need Macushield or other similar products but I have a condition which could lead to compromised liver.

in reply to

It says it has zinc and copper in it over and above the basics so yes to be wary of if those ingredients are contraindicated.

That's good to know. It's really expensive as it is! One of my specialists recommended it but another doctor I told I'd been taking it didn't seem particularly interested? Anyone else had feedback? I can only say my treatment has been really successful so far but no proof it can be attributed to the Macushield.

Yeah, no idea if doing any good! I'm taking it more as a hopeful support for the ' good' eye, my hubby too.

I am having injections every 8 weeks and have been taking Macushield for a couple of years as my optician recommended it. Not sure if it helps but my sight hasn't deteriorated.
