Weight gain and methotrexate

Has anyone found they have gained weight since taking methotrexate ? I am beginning to see some slight improvements after six months on the drug however I am noticing weight gain at least half a stone so far.

Did not know this was a side effect... Having had a quick google it seems to be when it is used in high doses ie for chemo. But will be interested to see what others know about this.

I gained weight but it could (was probably) have been due to the steroids. However, I did feel horrible swollen and bloated on MTX a lot of the time.... and I had permanent inflamed sinuses, and that is not in the list of side effects either!

Actually I hated MTX - it made me feel horrid, and Mycophenolate is much nicer in spite of the sleep problems (and it actually seems to work!!!).

I took Methotrexate for about 6 months and then it started to make me feel really sick so have been told to stop it. I too found that on Mtx I had terrible problems with ears...blocked sinus, pressure, so much so I though I was developing Meneieres. Strangely though since stopping much of this has stopped, my balance is still dodgy but generally manageable, but the tinnitus is much worse. I had not noticed weight gain but to be honest have put on weight over past few years anyway due to inactivity.

I have been on methotrexate for 3 months and have gained 10lbs. I watch what I eat as I eat clean. The methotrexate has also made me very nauseous so much so that I cannot function as I used to and also seems to have altered my taste for meat. I eat a set amount of meats but can't stand it anymore. I have also noticed that I cannot tolerate the taste of some veggies.

is this cellcept the trade team, if it is yes weight gain is a issue i gained 2 stone
