Hi everyone, I started gabapentin about amonth ago... 300mg daily tapering to 2700mg which I reached 9 days ago...
Having lost a serious amount of weight between 2014 and 2017 I have steadily been re gaining weight since last November (around 6 months after starting Hydroxychloroquine in June 2017.)
I've noticed this past month much faster weight gain... Is this the gabapentin I'm thinking? Water retention?
Interested to know your experiences....

Yes I took gabapentin for fibromyalgia and gained about 2 stone therefore stopped taking it. I use fluoxitine 25mg 3 times a day. I have taken hydroxcychloroquine for 10 years but not noticed any weight gain. Hope this helps
Hi. I've been on Hydroxychloroquine for nearly a year without any problems and steroids for 18 months and more recently gabapentin for severe multiple neurological pain of which the latest new symptom is constant pain in both eyes which I ended up being admitted into hospital for last month.
Its not clear yet whether the multiple neuro issues are associated with my UCTD or cervical spondylosis or a mixture of both, investigations ongoing.
I'm now wondering if gabapentin is for me... weight gain and continuing "passing out" for between 3 and 5 hours every day, although it is now largely controlling the eye pain which has reduced to a manageable base level but still flares up with sunlight / bright artificial light.)
According to The Lupus Encyclopedia, gabapentin has several potential side effects with one being 'weight gain' due to an increased appetite. This is known to be a common symptom of gabapentin.
