Since having lupus do you suffer with sensitive teeth? It's all my teeth.

Have used sensitive teeth toothpaste for years now but funnily enough aziothiaprine has actually helped??? Lupus consultants say there isn't a link between sensitive teeth and lupus as far as they are concerned at least. What do you think?

Guildford, I believe the reason they say there is no link is because it is just one of those things that non Lupies get too, so it is not a symptom. I know that when my face is rashing, the thin skin around my eyes, in nose, in mouth, and in private areas of body, is very sensitive to tears, and seems to be continually shedding. While this is going on my teeth are sensitive to hot and cold, and gums are sore. When flare goes away, teeth are better. So, I believe, Yes, it is related.

Hi there, since having CTD and Lupus my teeth have fallen apart. I have a soft pallet which is painful, and I have lost teeth, and get very sore mouth. I am seeing a specialist that my dentist has request me to see as he believes its all part of the bigger picture. I have no gum disease or infections just lesions and very sore mouth.I also have Sjorens which doesnt help the teeth.

Hi Guildford

Yes, I have very painful and sensitive teeth and mouth. I only use sensitive toothpaste which helps but when I have any dental work done - which is often as fillings fall out and teeth crumble - it takes weeks for my mouth to settle down into some sort of normality so that I can eat properly and drink liquids hot or cold without a straw. I don't know what the experts think but I am sure that my mouth problems are worse since my diagnoses.I have Sjrogrens/ Lupus / APS.

Have you got a good dentist who understands your problems?

Me too, my gums are receding a bit which I believe is the culprit.

I use a sensitive teeth toothpaste (any brand will do) , electric toothbrush, floss, and go regularly to the dentist.

Hi I think they are wrong, like you I have sensitive teeth but since I have had Lulus they are worse . It is all pain and aches in the jaw as well and dry mouth and ulcers. My teeth for some reason are breaking down more often and it's all fillings. It must be linked somehow. Good luck hope things get easier soon.
