Terrible pain in my head

I'm having a bad flare and feel terrible. I am getting really bad shooting pains in the back of my head. I've never had anything like this before and I'm really worried. I'm already waiting for an mri scan, so the pain is scary. Please help with any ideas of what it could be. Thanks. Xx

Hi there is your full diagnosis Lupus... and do you have a complicated medical history? Mary F x

Do make sure you get a full blood screen as in some cases of Lupus you can go on to have APS, (Hughes Syndrome) which can cause horrendous headaches, probably unlikely but just to be sure. I have this also alongside my Lupus. Mary f X

Thankyou. Its a mine field!! The rheumatologist has arranged for me to have an mri because I'm forgetting things etc. He did mention clots. Xx

Yes, the condition does cause clots... but easy to manage if you get it sorted. Hughes Syndrome Foundation has very good information. I use that and this one, as I also have Lupus, alongside 4 other conditions: Mary F x

Hi, I have the same problem of which my GP said its part of Lupus. After 4 years of lupus diagnosis, I had an MRI scan and was told it was intracranial hypertension but the neurologist did another scan and was diagnosed as having empty sella syndrome. I am not saying that's what you have. But just make sure you get all the tests done. I am under an endocrinologist. I still have the strange pain at the back if my head and its worrying at times. Take care and plse let us know what the doc says.

If ur on co-codomol u may have to ask ur gp to change it cos when u take a lot of it, it causes serious headache. I also have the uncontrollable headache ,so my mum suggested I change d pain killer and my consultant agreed to that. Since then d headache are reduce.

Co-codamol is the only pain killer I can take. I have serious allergic reactions to everything else. Tramadol was great for the pain, but, again, I'm allergic. Thanks though. Xx
