This is probably a silly questions but is it possible that probiotics could stimulate the immune system and make Lupus worse?

Probiotics
Good question! My Rheumatologist has always encouraged their use, especially after a course of antibiotics so that would suggest not. However, they now make me feel quite ill, tummy-wise, and I can no longer take them so are capable of causing some kind of reaction.
I'm trying probiotic capsules from the health food shop as I can't bear the taste of the drinks. These seem to have improved the ibs symptoms and I don't appear to have had any problems taking them but have done this myself without advice from docs as don't have an appt for a while. Hope this helps!
I also use probiotics for my ibs and they are helping me with my problems with digestion. My doctor encourage me to take them. Also, first I was thanking in some kind of powder, no I´m taking in capsules and they are tasting it much better :)) And yes, I have discoid lupus.
I have discoid lupus and take the actimel probiotic drink every day. It's really improved my digestive system and I've been taking it regularly for about four months. However I am just having a flare of mouth ulcers. Saw my dentist this morning as thought might have an abscess on one of my teeth and he said whole of my upper mouth has lesions/ulcers and it's a systemic thing and nothing to do with my teeth. The good news is that my teeth aren't about to fall out but I'm wondering what's brought on the flare. So I would really be interested to know more about probiotics being good for lupus or bad.
This is not a silly question. Probiotics will not stimulate your immune system and make lupus worse. They will strengthen your immune system cells that you already have and make them more effective. In other words, probiotics will balance your good and bad bacteria so your immune system is not over looaded with too many bad bacteria. That is how it strengthens, not stimulates.
