I have been in pain for over a month, had a couple of cortisone Injections on Thursday and fluid taken off my knee! But shoulder is still painful and I am taking pain killers. But I am so angry and down and feeling sorry for myself and keep going back to bed and sleeping, which is making me more fed up!!!

Sorry for going on! X

OUCH! Poor knee and poor shoulder.

Side note : be certain you are drinking plenty of fluids with the pain meds as those tend to create constipation ... an added discomfort that is best avoided if at all possible.

Do what you can do when you can do it and don't get too down on yourself you are as you are and lupus is as it is.

I hope you (and your knee) feel better soon.

Hello Sam.

I am well. Thanks. It is kind of you to ask; especially when you are in bed in pain and feeling down.

Perhaps this will cheer you up? Please excuse me for going totally off the main topic; but it's a bit of happy to share.

My friends and I built and hung up an owl house in early spring. There is an owl with owlets residing within it now. Every eve I watch as the mum owl exits her house to hunt. She preens and fluffs herself as her eyes adjust to the dusk to darkness. Sometimes her male mate can be heard calling from a nearby tree. When darkness falls she jets out of the house like a rocket. All that can be seen without night vision assistance is a blur of motion. Very cool. I can't wait to see the owlets. I have heard a minimum of 2 inside of the house - uncertain how many are there as they are unseen. Owls usually have 2-5 owlets. The mum and father owls must hunt all night to feed their owlets - up to 10 mice per night. It's hard work being an owl! Can you imagine having to market 10 times a day?!?

Owlet Video - always good for a smile

Back on topic ...

Some find shoulder pain relief with clavicle brace. It removes the downward pressure on the shoulder cuff - by supporting the right/left clavicles and shoulder blades. It might be worth a try.

Some find knee pain relief (specifically for water on the knee) with icing (every 2 hours for 15-20 minutes) and elevating the knee when lying down above the heart with a pillow. There are fantastic triangular shaped pillows just for this purpose. I broke my patella (knee cap) years ago. Using a triangle pillow works for me. Water therapy is highly recommended to rehab the knee once you are up and about.

I hope this is of some use to you. And I hope the owl story cheered you.

Be well soon.

Hi there, sorry you are feeling so rubbish,I think I would do exactley the same ad you,can you have injections in your shoulder? Can you get your g.p to give you better pain killers.

Why I had a frozen shoulder a few years ago i had steroid injections in it and bought a pad from argos ( 20 pounds ),if you still miserable perhaps visiting your g.p may help.

I think when you constantley feel in pain it can wear you down, mentally and physically.

One of my daughters is under the pain clinic at our local hospital, they can do lord of things to help try and ease your pain, meds, physiotherapy, accupunture

Injections also help with the with the mental pain of dealing with things.

Hope you feel a little better real soon.

Sandy.

Hi Sandy, How are you?

Cortisone is the only thing that works for me when I have a flare up as I have strong pain killers but that wont work when it is really bad.

I am resting and that helps a lot too.

Take care
