Please can anyone help me, I have an appointment next week at Guys Hospital London and I was wondering what actual tests are carried out to confirm lupus.

My daughter suffers from lupus and I've been told I suffer from fibromyalgia

And replies will be very much appreciated

they will carry out a number of blood test including u+es fbc lfts white cell count, ana check, the ana check is a definitive answer if positive, there are physical tests and symptoms you may be suffering that they may want to explore also, hope this helps a little.

Thank you so much. My inflamatories always come back high is this what you mean?

I'm convinced it's Lupus and maybe fibromyalgia too

They do an antibody antiDNA test they will ask u lots of questions about symptoms and probably examine you there r 11 dif specific symptoms and a lupus patient will have 4 or more since the start of the disease if it is lupus sorry medic69 jst saw ur reply n mines v similar :-) GD luck Lucy x

Thank you both. I'll let you know how I get on. Turned down for DLA again but this time going to appeal even though it feels scary

Blood tests and a biopsy is how they diagnosed me.

is it very hard to get dla i would have thought with lupus it would be seen as necesary...

A positive ANA alone does not mean you have lupus. About five to ten percent of healthy women test positive for ANA.

Physical symptoms combined with diagnostic tests are performed.

Tests differ depending upon the type of lupus - SLE, CLE, DLE, SCLE, drug induced lupus, and or neonatal lupus.

Blood work most likely : CBC, Urine, ANA, Anti-dsDNA, aPLs, Anti-RoSS-A, Anti-La/SS-B, Anti-Sm, Anti-RNP, CH50, C3, C4, CRP, ESR, PT, PTT, RVVT, PNP, KCT, and tissue biopsies.

Best of luck to you and to your daughter.
