Surgery update....

Having got through 5 weeks in plaster with no infection and my sanity intact 🙌 ( back on the mmf & tac now ) I came out of my cast on Friday. Now I start to walk again on crutches and in a boot for the next 6 weeks. I was prepared for pain but not for how little I can walk .😔Anyway here is Hugo watching over me making sure i rest.......he is so excited i can take him out onto the grass at the back gate and throw his ball bless him .

Onwards and upwards is the only way to go my friends . Xx

Take care and here’s to a smooth recovery. Hugo is doing an excellent job looking after you, sadly I had terrible side effects on MMF I’m now awaiting RTX infusions.

Take care

Wendy xx

Good morning. When I had my back surgery in 2018, prior to my diagnosis with the big "L" and after 2 months in a wheelchair and having to pay for my own operation even though it was blindingly obvious from the scan that my back was very bad, (I'm not bitter 😡), I just tried to focus that no matter how frustrating it was, painful and how little I could do, I just had to think of it as a very small chunk of time that I was going to be like this in a life I had already had the privilege to live for over 50 years and slowly with a bit more patience and of course with a loyal and trusty Springer by my side, well on the bed most of the time, (gone for nearly 3 years now 😭), I just kept climbing that very, at the time, high mountain, until I could do other things and eventually big things. You seem to me to be a very tenacious lady and I have absolutely no doubt that you will emerge again with Hugo (beauty of a pic btw) just glad that he has you and he wants nothing else. Ball throwing is what it has to be for now, but he knows that and loves you for it. I don't want to say little steps, so I will say little paws and the pawgress will accumulate and you will be back to your usual self, if the Auto Immune thingy (that I won't name), whatever that is, does it's usual. We used to hide balls for our Springer to find and say "Go find it!" The only trouble she used to be able to find them very quickly. Seems to be a Springer thing - fast! Keep well, love Hugo, get on here when you're feeling meh. Namaste 🙏 xx

Thanks Cavendish I'm so sorry you had to pay for your own op . As you will know after a long spell on bed rest you just want to get moving.

I also look after a sprocker occasionally and when the pair of them are looking for balls they are just a blur. The only thing Hugo does at normal speed is eat. He's not keen to just be handed a treat he prefers to find them then its chaos as he bounces around the house looking for them. ...wouldn't have it any other way lol . Xx

They are just the best dogs. So enthusiastic about everything. We used to hide treats too and our girl Silly Milly used to steal her brother's treats especially when he thought he had hidden them in the garden. I miss them both, but especially the silky ears and those beautiful eyes. Feel better soon. Love to Hugo xx just about to start teaching an over 60's yoga class, so you will get there. Just try to be kind to yourself 🙏❤️

Thanks tiggy yes he is but then again I'm bias 😁. Yes it was nice to get it removed on Friday and I was expecting a great night's sleep but it all still fragile and sensitive so wasn't comfortable. I've walked him around the green the other side of our back gate...those few metres felt like miles .Thanks for the much needed hug x

Hi EJ. Thank you for all the hugs and kisses. I dont mind the boot ive been in several over the last few years with all my falls. I guess after 5 wks of bed rest I just want to be on the move plus im seeing all the things that need doing like dusting .I'm hiring a scooter on weds so I can get about when son goes back to work . I been very lucky that friends and neighbours have been a fantastic support with everything from walking Hugo to lifts to making my dinner before sons family leave started. I hope you are keeping as well as possible. Your positive vibes are always a pleasure to recieve xxx
