Constant burning pain in both elbows!

Riselikeaphoenix_123 profile image

I was just wondering if anyone has constant burning pain in both elbows? It shoots down both forearms, sometimes electric shock sensations and now my hands and fingers are affected more . When I wash my hands and bend my fingers, it's painful and resting my forearms on a table to eat etc is painful! It feels as though my muscles are bruised 😫 and bones broken. The Rheumatologist said he thinks that I have tennis and golf elbow in both arms.

I did have this sensation in my legs and feet, it was put down to neuropathy and give pregabalin, which has helped the electric shocks.

I've also been told, i have tennis elbow in the left arm. which does cause a burning sensation, ive been referred to physio 🤷‍♀️

main problem at the moment is possible trigeminal neuralgia! its the most horrendous stabbing pain on one side of my face, Im waiting to see a maxillofacial surgeon who hopefully will sort it. Im starting to think I may have neuropathy everywhere!

Hope the rheumatologist has given you something to help the pain/sensation as its not very pleasant.

Thank you. I was on 6 Pregablin a day and Morphine patches, which did help the most of the pain but it was affecting my brain signals and I couldn't drive etc so I had to come off them. Now it's tramadole when needed, diclofenic gel and Capsicum cream. I waiting on cortisone injections in both elbows which I hope is soon. I hope that your pain is helped soon. 🙏Cx

Arthritis is a very painful condition. It can trap nerves giving symptoms just like yours. If you have seen a specialist in arthritis it is unlikely but worth checkingthat you don't have an infection. That is usually characterised byredness and swelling. Strange as it seems elbows can affect wrists and fingers because the necessary nerves have to pass down through the elbows to get into the wrists. Unfortunatly arthritis is a condition that can not be cured, it can only be aliviated. So the very first thing to do, after your diagnosis is to admit that you have it. Acceptance helps you to cope. Second thing is to admit you can not do what you did before, as well as you did before arthritis struck. Third thing is to take painkillers as prescribed, do not dodge them. Take them as prescribed not too few and not too many. These three things will make sure your pain is as manageble as possible.

Arthritis will limit your life. There is no getting away from that. It doesn't mean your life is over. The trick is to do little and often. Rest, do, rest, do. AND here is the awful thing, yes it sucks, excercise! The dreaded excercise! It is really, really important to keep moving. Movement lubricates the joints and prevents the wear worsening as quickly as it would without lubrication. You weight, it must be at a health level. Over weight puts too high a burden on you joints causing the wear out quicker still. Monitor your food intake and as gran says, eat up all your veg. I know. Awful but necessary.

Doing the rest, do, rest, do, means your life is not on hold and you can still do things. There is nothing more frustrating than to realise you can't get around so much but if you sit on the sofa all day, your done. Look on websites about how to do things like cleaning and other household duties so when you do things you do them in away that won't upset your joints. One of my friends with arthritis got a kettle on a tilting stand so she could pour the kettle without the risk of spilling it onto herself. There are all sorts of wrinkles and dodges to make life easy. Excercise is awful but dusting with a long handle duster is quite fun. You don't have to bend and you don't have to reach and its good for chasing the kids with too. Oh and get them to pitch in too if you have kids. Oh my arthritis is bad to day, its your turn to push the vac around! See a little dodge.

Thank you for all your tips and kind words. I do try and do a little exercise each day as I actually enjoy it and eat healthily. Today I am having a flare, fatigue, pain and chills day. So resting after going to Church and then a foox shop, even though my husband helps, I am sooo tired after.
