ST.THOMAS HOSPITAL: Does anybody know how to get an... - LUPUS UK
ST.THOMAS HOSPITAL
Speak to your GP and plainly say that you need to see a specialist and that the Louise Coote unit at St T's is the best.
Hi, I was referred to St Thomas' Lupus Unit by my local rheumatologist. They do usually like to see patients alongside a local rheumy as they are very busy. I have had appointments cancelled and moved so often now, so much so, I have not seen anyone at St Thomas' for nearly two years!!! Good luck! x
yes i agree with yols ive been told by my rheumy and gp that there PTA fund doesnt cover st thomas !!! good luck 2 u
Thanks everyone xx
Hi jennie, I got referred by my local rheumy. You should keep on at them.. or see if you're GP can refer you to another if you're not happy you're getting the right treatment. Hope you get the help you need x
I have been a patient at St Thomas for 8 years. Was referred there when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at St Barts hospital. the Marie Coote Lupus Clinic is the most fantastic clinic in the world. I see them every two months and have monthly blood tests there. My hip fractured 12 months ago, due to Lupus, my local hospital was useless I rang the lupus clinic was seen two days later, MRI 3 weeks later, total hip replacement at St T's as soon as fracture was diagnosed (I.e. next day). I also have a renal impairment diagnosed through St T. I have just given up work due to my lupus -58 years old. Go to your GP tell them YOU really need to get into them and keep harping. You will have to wait for your first appointment but it is worth getting on the scene. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Michelle
I go to Tommies. My local rheumy referred me as I have shrinking lung syndrome and he didn't really know how to treat me. They have been fantastic, at the moment I see someone every 6 months. Well worth the trip. My husband always come with me as he is my second pair of ears in case I miss something important what the consultant has said. Good luck xx
hi there, i am afraid that i had to go private in order to see anyone else, found it impossible to get referred, no idea if area counts for anything but wish you better luck

Hiya,
re st thoms, they are busy but very helpful, their website used to have a referral form ,I got my GP to do it, but lupus NS, told my rhuemy, she was ok with it, said she'd do it too, printed it off and docs sent it off, they're good for oddities of lupus,
