Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with SLE almost a year ago and have been taking hydroxychloroquine and steroids since then.
Something I’ve been finding difficult is not knowing if my symptoms are lupus related or something else. When I see the rheumatology dr, she always has the standard answer of ‘mmm doesn’t sound like lupus to me’. Which is fine of course except I’m not always convinced by this.
I’ve been trying to keep a symptom diary as much as possible to try and see if I can spot any patterns and what I have noticed is that when I’m particularly run down or stressed, I tend to see an increase in certain things. Hair loss, joint pain, fatigue, this weird thing at the corners of my mouth and then the thing I want to ask about is a rash around my ankles. It’s so localised and only seems to appear during times when I’m feeling really run down and poorly. It’s really itchy and I get these red blisters which turn into small scabs and then they leave a scar. The rheumy dr has decided it is scabies 🤷🏻♀️ which I have no idea about but when I googled it, it didn’t really sound like the rash I get. I can’t help but get the feeling she is quite quick to dismiss my concerns and I don’t know what to push and what to ignore.
Has anyone else had a rash like this before? I showed her a bunch of photos too so she has seen the rash.
