Why wear anything ugly especially if you feel ugly? Why wear the same drab stuff even if you have to stay home? Why not look in the mirror and think wow!
A few years ago my husband saw I was upset looking at the clothes in my closet. Some very nice things for the vacations we had to cancel; business conventions I stayed home; the impulsive buy for a special possibility. Crap, I’m 3 sizes bigger than all this I thought. And some of the things that might fit I’d have to layer spanx and stand up all evening. Had a good cry. Told Husband that all my possibility clothes were going nowhere. He said, “wear them for me!” Next day I madly tried on everything. Put most in boxes and took to donation. I dislike shopping. Now that I can shop online, I decided to be a savvy savant for clothing I enjoy wearing and feels good on my skin. But wait. These things are not cheap: real silk, organic cotton, flattering flowy pieces that made me feel beautiful in my bed or out!! Do you know if you shop for a silk dress way marked down it can become your over the moon nightgown? My closet boasts silky lounge clothes that should be worn at a funky bar; or whispersoft cotton in a hippie print. Patiently I stalk several websites and get amazing deals. I put my lipstick on and go about my day and oh well loungey silk dress goes to sleep with me and 3 dogs if lupus won’t let me out of this house! Lupus loves lounge clothes. And now so do I. 💜MM

Oh I love it! What a storyteller. And it's all so true for many of us I suspect.
My problem recently has been bras. With the fashion changing to easy fit, comfortable attire I decided that underwired bras just don't cut it any more.
So I've tried several soft, stretchy bras without underwire and yes, most have been comfortable but some don't really fit, and they're not flattering at all. And I'd have to buy a bigger size - a true stumbling block!
But, like you Mrs Marigold, comfort and common sense won and who really cares what I look like 😆. So I'm now the proud owner of stretchy, soft, NO underwire, lounge bras!!
After all, they go with the "lounging" clothes I'm still wearing since Covid lockdown 😂. 🤷🏼♀️
I bought non wired bras from Peacocks for a tenner each. Looks a bit sport-bra-ish but really comfortable, keeps my babylons up and not pointing south, wash really well and are still white after 3 months of wear. Go Peacocks!
can relate to this, a life of struggling to find comfortable fitting bras for a big bust and nothing beats a comfortable lounge bra , so long as i dont open the door to anyone 😂😂😂
I could totally relate to what you said Mrs M and enjoyed the way you told it.😆 It is disheartening when we have loads of clothes we used to enjoy wearing on holidays or at events we can no longer attend.😟 Hubby just renewed my passport for me. Why I asked, we never go abroad anymore, haven’t for 9 years! But he says to never give up and it is there for if we ever even fancy a trip to Ireland, Norway or Madeira which are all short flights. I can’t see it happening, but nice to know the option is there if needed. You’ve inspired me to look through my wardrobe and throw out the too tight, the shabby and the ugly and renew with more attractive and comfortable clothes. 😃 Thanks Mrs M. Take care.🤗 Xxx
Good on you. I have the same reaction life is too short to dress dull. Yes I wear my old evening gowns as nighties. Thanks for the tip I shall wear my silky stuff in bed too. I still rock my red lipstick all the time. I don’t let lupus get me down. Thanks for raising our spirits.
