Hi, new here, newly diagnosed with renal involvement.
I live in Gloucestershire....any recommendations for the best specialists in my area? Would be willing to travel Bristol, Bath, Oxford to get the right advice and treatment. TIA 🙂

Bath rheumatology Centre at Royal United hospital bath. It's a lupus centre of excellence and they have not let me down yet. I see a rheumatologist every 6 months, they check urine every appointment. There is a helpline you can ring if you need help and they ring back within 48 hours. I have been offered physio and dermatology help. We'll worth going there. About a 9 month waiting list though.
I totally agree with dg70, I have been going to what was called 'the min', now moved to a new unit at the RUH Bath for over 30 years. Excellent centre for Lupus etc x
Hi there,
If it’s renal involvement for your lupus you actually need a consultant nephrologist who knows and is experienced in diagnosing and treating Lupus Nephritis, more correctly described as glomerulonephritis or inflammation of the tiny filtration units (glomeruli) within the kidneys.
With me I was diagnosed and treated for severe Lupus nephritis (class 5), 2016 which is now seemingly in remission 👌👏thanks to an excellent nephrologist (Devon hospital) AFTER a somewhat painful kidney BIOPSY!
GPs, rheumatologists, dermatologists etc may well be part of the care team later but the nephrologist/kidney specialist is required for NOW! Lupus sadly has so many tissue, organ and organ systems manifestations. Hence specific medics are required as this AI disease progresses.
Lupus kidney involvement is serious and can be of insidious onset!
