Anyone else get balance problems?

Hi, does anyone else get balance problems with their SLE. I cant drive on the motorway anymore as I feel the road is tilting to the side and I am being pulled to the left. Really weird. I went for an MRI last week and I am waiting for the results. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.

I have had days when the world seemed to move to the left all day, Doctor said it was Vertigo. Most unpleasant.

One other really odd thing is that if i set two mugs in front of me, the one on the left will always appear bigger!!! Even if I swap them.

Me too, although I have improved somewhat lately.

We had another blog some time ago about balance problems. I was amazed at the response. I thought that I was the only one! It would be interesting for you if you had a look at it.

If i get up quicky or move quickly i have to stop because it feels like im drunk or everything looks as thou its through the heat of a fire all woobly. I have twiches as well so im alwalys bumping into doors or head butting things, i am scared of stairs because i have had wooblies on them and grabed the banisters and almost fell (fallen a few times) i have a wooded stair case so seems worst. I sometimes use a stick for balance but i try not to depend on it but its tuff.

Has no one got a magic wand for this....haha.

The only good thing is i dont drink because of my pills gives me very bad hangover, so i find sometimes i look on the good side get the drunk feeling but with out the hangover.....

good luck

Hi there. Par for the course I'm afraid. Me too. Like NiksB above I need a stick for balance these days.

Hope you don't feel quite so alone with it now.

Hi There,

i have terrible balance problems and awful dizziness. So much so that I have not been able to drive for nearly 3 years. Every time I see my consultant he says maybe I can drive next time I see him - its a such a big loss of independence especially when you can't manage to walk far.

I also have hughes and I know when my INR is too low or too high it effects my balance too.

Its not fun and so far i haven't found anything that eases it.

Good luck :)

yep! my balance goes quite a bit, dizziness etc. Often I'll joke to my fella that the floor must be tilted! lol, 'cause i'm forever almost falling over when I'm just standing still!!

hope your scan results help you get the help you need asap!

Hi, I also have balance problems. Ive been falling as well. Im not dizzy but its just like I have no core balance. If Im up the wood with the dog and I am on uneven ground I just cant keep my balance. Im going for an MRI on Tues then an EEG on Wed. Its a funny feeling. Its interesting to see that other people are experiencing the same.x

My MRI came back clear but they want me to have another one in 3 months to compare scans and to double check. How about you? Still have the same problem with balance and it sucks. They did mention menieres syndrome is a possibility yet another auto immune disease.

Hi annmaz,

Unfortunately my MRI scan showed several high intensity lesions which my consultant thinks could be due to inflammation due to my lupus and also vasculitis due to hughes/aps........I am currently on a 6 months course of chemo, i had my third treatment last Friday and will be having another 3 montlhy, fingers crossed it works. I had a scan last year when i was having balance and dizziness and that one came back negative yet in the space of a few months it went from nothing to 7-8 lesions so i would make sure they do the second one ask if they are using a flair sequence on the MRI im a radiographer and the flair sequence is the best one to detect lupus changes in the brain

take care

Yes, I have quit driving for some time now. I have SLE Lupus. And I can just stand there, NOT DIZZY and will fall over, I have bumped into so may walls and doors, and tables. I was upset today and told my dearest husband, well this is great, so now I guess I will walk around like a drunk person. That's how I feel. Everything is 3D. I don't understand what makes this happen. I was at my doctors last week and he said it was caused from Lupus.
