Covid booster

Just to reassure people - I had heard lots of horror stories about the latest Covid booster so was in 2 minds about whether to get it. In the end I went along to my appointment, had a chat with the nurse and, feeling reassured, went ahead. I am happy to report that, apart from a sore arm I'm not experiencing any nasty side effects.

hi HazelW I too didn’t have any problem, didn’t even have a sore arm much too the disgusted of my daughter, who’s arm was red and sore for a few day 😂 guess I was just lucky.

Lol ! 🤣 Yes - you were lucky. Though have to say, a sore arm was a small price to pay for the reassurance

you were very lucky. I spent 4 days very ill after my jab, shaking, temperature, chills, aches and pains, loss of appetite, energy less…….

But I think it was worth it because when I had Covid earlier this year I was ill for 3 weeks but only mildly so I will put up with the side effects.

I hope you feel better after that rant.

I was born in 1941 and , yes , there was not a lot of money around . My father grew vegetables , we kept two chickens and we ate a lot of offal , because it was cheap . I remember not being too keen on some things but being young and with a healthy appetite we were encouraged to try most things . We weren’t forced to eat anything and if we couldn’t face it , there was always bread and jam .

I guess now I am what is called a “foodie” because I love good food , am interested in it , and happy to spend what I can afford on eating out , here and abroad .

However , I have been into hospital on a number of occasions , due to RA and joint replacements , and do not recognise your dramatic description of the food on offer . “Putrid , vile , vomit- looking pigswill” to use some of your phrases . Granted it’s not “cordon bleu” , but as someone has already remarked when you’re ill and in hospital food is often the last thing on your mind .

Bearing in mind they have to cater for large numbers of people , with varying needs , allergies and dietary requirements , I think they do very well . There’s always a choice and if nothing suits , then a sandwich .

Best of all is in the wee small hours , when you can’t sleep because of pain/discomfort , there is usually a kindly nurse who offers to make you a cup of tea and a biscuit . And that beats any five star meal .

I was told by my chemist that those in the up to 40's and over 60's wouldn't get too ill, if at all ill. Those between 40 and 60 stood a higher change of being unwell.

I was like tiredmum I had the chills, aches, pains and loss of appetite for 2 days. But totally recovered on the third day. But glad I had the jab :-)

I have just had the 4th booster and on my 3rd, and 4th I have had bad reactions. Burning up with chills, hypersensitivity, aches to the point I fainted in the 3rd and nearly did last night. It totally floors me. Been in bed all day on paracetamol 😕
