hi. Can anyone tell me if psoriasis is an add on to Conective tissue disease , or something on its own , I’ve now started with it on my scalp , two years ago I was told by a pompous dermatologist that was wrong with my nails , he wouldn’t listen to what I thought although I was paying , 😘😘
psoriasis : hi. Can anyone tell me if psoriasis is... - LUPUS UK
psoriasis
Why pay good money to a pompous presumably “know all” dermatologist? They love money more than patients.
Get a better, more empathetic dermatologist rather than a posturing poseur bluffer?😳
I would.
BTW psoriasis can be a connective tissue disease rather than just a skin manifestation. Can affect joints, tendons, ligaments etc.
Arthritic psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis comes to mind. Complicated. You can even get drug induced psoriasis with MMF.😢 It’s rare though.
Try this:
nhs.uk/conditions/psoriatic...
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
hi I got some good advise from TT on here ,the doctor just said paint them but I was desperate as most of the finger nails were becoming detached , prescription he gave me didn’t work anyway , and what do I do paint them .but I tried before I had to except it 😘
Also with psoriasis the dead cell production is very intense. (Some say 10 times faster than normal)?
I’m continually having to scrape off dry, dead skin cells from my feet, hands, scalp, body and face. I dermaplane /shave using (manual double bladed razor) on my face often because there’s so much dead, dry skin. If I leave it for a week so much dry skin builds up that the flakes are noticeable on my skin. This dead skin, fluff, downy hair can clog up the razor blades so it’s best to use a wooden cocktail stick to unclog and wash under a running tap. 👍I then spray razors with disinfectant to keep them sterile! After all this my face looks super smooth and I feel so much better but it’s a tiring continual job.
I always use antiseptic and moisturizing Dermol 500 on my facial skin which is prescribable.
My nails are very white, brittle and often split so I use emery boards and file them short.
I often use 100% tea tree oil on my filed nails to kill off any fungal spores in the filed nail, powdery dust that may be present. Very useful in keeping my nails healthy looking.
If I don’t keep my nails short they grow fast, sharp and jagged and split. I find that my fingernails can easily scrape off all that dead skin from my feet soles without having to use any metal scrapers. 👍
Hi Whatsit, it looks like others on this forum know more about psoriasis than I do! It’s definitely autoimmune, and unfortunately, various AI diseases are known to correlate with one another. Once you have lupus, it seems you are more likely to develop other AI things too. Yay for us!
I too get terribly split and weak nails. Sometimes they rip half off, leaving unprotected nail bed behind. (Gross, huh?) I’ve tried nail paints and silicon supplements, to no avail. They are getting increasingly worse as time goes on. The only solution is to keep them as short as possible. I file most of my nails and clip the thumbs, as both thumbs have multiple splits running down them. All the best to you 👍🌻
