Hi everyone I,

Long story short I recently had cataract surgery in April which was a bodge job that ended up slicing my corneal layer . After 5months into it with still inflammation and pain , constant migraines putting up with constant ghosting and refection . I finally had a positive reading lens . I had someone who spent some time and effort with my eye adjusting and fine tuning it yesterday. I am so pleased. I am do looking forward to my new pair of distance glasses . It is a massive astigmatism to the new distance len. I already had astigmatism before I told them I had astigmatism before surgery but hey ho did they listen. This is what annoys me so much with hospitals they never listen to patient.

I still have one more eye to go certainly not letting them touch that eye !!

bad enough I have macular in both eyes .

Very sorry for you!

Yet in less developed countries cataract surgery is more or less 100% successful.

have been on long term steroids that gave me fast growing cataracts. Specsavers put me forward to a unit in London that only deal with cataracts.

After first one was done I was given all clear after four weeks using antibiotic drops ,had the second done and the colours are amazing. For the first time in over twenty years I don’t have to wear contact lenses.

If you want the other eye done I should find a specialist unit

Hi Christineosh,

this was a specialised unit only problem was it was a Junior doctor doing the cataract surgery and not the Consultant doing it the Consultant knew who did it - at a very well know recognised hospital that did it . When you trust them to do it and then this happens this does not go down very well on their records. It is all on record on paper . I will be seeing my Specialist Consultant(macular) this coming year who referred me for this cataracts surgery. As I have double macular in both eyes they are not caused by drugs - they are genetic -Stargards. So it will be an interesting discussion with her when I see regarding this. As There should be dispensation for Macular patient especially ones with double macular or any Macular patients that they should not be operated by Juniors Surgeons.

I got my new glasses today . Specasavers has been very good with dealing with my eyes . I have been with them through out . New glasses has alot to get used to . huge astigmatism to the right eye. 2.75 compared to the left. and my cyl right is minus compare to left is a plus. so my brain is having to do alot of work adjusting to those differences. when I was outside in the garden the pots outside looked oval to me I know they are not but they did looked oval . it was all very odd. it is just object are still showing multiple images. they are still not very clear or sharp.
