Sinus associated with Lupus flare

Does sinus infection trigger Lupus flare? If so, is there a home remedy or does it require antibootics?

I think any infection triggers lupus IMO. Sinus infections should be treated with antibiotics because your sinuses are a straight path to the brain. If you have a fever, pain or purulent drainage (yellow thick like puss, not thin and green) then call your doctor.

In order to prevent sinus infections because I have a collapsed nare on one side, I do a daily warm saline rinse in the morning. And follow up with steroid, astelin and nasal crom nose sprays. Keeps me dry for most of the day.

Thank you. Much appreciated. I recently read that sinus infection can be associated with an ongoing, low-grade fever in Lupus patients, and infections are linked to fevers. I did the research because there is nothing else going on other that a sinus trip, of which a doctor prescribed 'Zyrtec' not 'Zyrtec D', and it is not clearing up. Besides, Prednisone was increased to 40 mg for one week reduce the fever, but the fever is still there. Perhaps, I need antibiotic. Will seek additional medical help.

This is how I was diagnosed with lupus - continuous sinus infections. Ent said not sinusitis but inflammation was present although antibiotics cleared it every time. Since being on mycophenolate symptoms had subsided still suffer with swollen eye and pain in cheek bone now and a gain but can cope without antibiotics. Currently off mycophenolate for other infections and it has flared again. Suppose it depends how bad it is and whether on a longer term other meds may keep it at bay. Good luck
