That's what I like - perfect communication!!!! No wonder the poor old NHS is in a mess!!

I have no idea - if i knew, I'd have said! I was being sarcastic about the communication.

What else does it say?

Hello Liz2468 Have you received your Covid vaccine by any chance? If so it could be to do with that?

Hi yes I’ve had both of my vaccines a while ago and then I got this letter out of the blue

Hello, is there any code numbers stated in the letter? If not then maybe give them a call to ask them to explain about the letter. Some people can’t get a paper covid pass and need to download the NHS app. I hope you get clarification as soon as possible.

Use the contact details within the NHS letter and give them a ring to explain?!🤔😩

Clinical coding is a thing in the NHS. For example, when I used to work in A&E everything that you do for a patient has its own clinical code. For example, a set of observations, a urine test, a dressing all the way to full critical care measures. These codes are essentially ticked and that data is collected, sent to the local health authority and then the money that each individual code is valued at is then reimbursed to the hospital from the health authority. Getting your patient "coded" was a big thing where I worked because every intervention meant that we could get money back for it but if patients weren't coded then the money was lost.

I have absolutely no idea why you have received a letter to say that you have been coded. I've never heard of this before. It is rather strange. It might be worth phoning the trust or department that sent you the letter.

I may be completely off the mark but from working in the NHS that is what I understand about clinical coding. They employ people to be clinical coders so if it exists in A&E it will exist elsewhere in the hospital I am sure.

Hi Liz! NHS Scotland has been sending out letters to anyone with an illness that could mean they have a suppressed immune system.....if it's the same letter I had, it's an invitation to have family - children over 12 in the same house - vaccinated before they start vaccinating all children xxx

Hi there, I also got this letter. I just wondered if you got the letter back at the start of the pandemic telling you to shield because of your illness?

Hi Ronie23, no I didn't have a shielding letter...though I've not been on immunosuppression meds so wouldn't have qualified

Shielding was based on an individual risk assessment - conditions/meds prescribed - whereas the letter's gone to every person with SLE and RA I suppose, and all the other autoimmune diseases, which will be millions more..

NHS Scotland has vaccinated every adult (who wants to be), so the net has been widened beyond the initial priority list to include 12-17 year olds who live with someone who *might* be immunocompromised, and the jab's been offered to all 16-17 year olds already, in line with the guidelines xxx

Hey Liz, all illnesses have a code, all to do with Scottish Office figures. I also received this letter which I was confused about because I never received a letter at the start of the pandemic advising me to shield? If we are now getting letter saying we are coded, I can’t understand how I didn’t get a shielding letter. Did you get one?

Hi Ronnie23 I was the same as you didn’t receive a shielding letter either and I know I should have because off all my health problems it’s a joke the way we have been treated please take care and stay safe thanks
