Hi could someone help me remember the two brands of hydroxychoroquine please. Some time ago a brand of hydroxy came out that was known to upset your stomach. I insisted that my dr put on my prescription the brand I wanted. Somewhere along the line I believe mine have been changed and I didn’t notice. I have been through a lot of forgetfulness due to strokes. I developed a burping that is most uncomfortable and I haven’t understood why and not something I felt I could ask a gp about even if you could get in. For some reason today it came to me that my Plaquenil has changed brand can anyone help me please. I am being given Quinoric and something tells me that’s not the one I wanted. Feeling so confused. Help. Sorry for long message. Thank you.

You're right GillygZentiva is the plaquenil that you were taking as they are the same.
Quinoric is the brand that many people have problems taking. 🌈😽😽X
Dear Gillyg
Zentiva is the brand that does not have that horrid after taste , has they are coated .
All the other brands make me gip with the aftertaste .
Hope this helps .

Hi,
Zentiva and Hydroxychloroquine by Black Rock Pharmaceuticals are what I use after reading some very good advice on here by Paul Howard some years ago.
Within one week of my Plaquenil changing to Quinoric I had a huge reaction. Only oral drug I've ever reacted to in the 16yrs since diagnosis of my SLE.
Hope this helps. Somewhere on site there should be a copy of Paul's advice which I will always be grateful for. I have used both Zentiva and Black Rock's hydroxy without any problems.
Hope this helps, x
Just had a quick look through Paul's posts but could not find the post I'm referring to. Please ask him to guide you to it. It was approx 3-5 years ago and was sound advice. Sorry I had no luck but his posts are numerous. Do ask him.
Zentiva was ok for me had reaction to quinoric.
There is also IPCA a pharma manufacturer from India:

These tablets are probably the cheapest?🤔…and available in the UK.
Hi GillyG My wife has been taking Bristol (coated) tablets for 6 months now 200/400 and she has had no side effects we know of. Bear in mind she has been very ill and extremely weak but these tabs seems to be working ok.I think the link below may be the one from Lupus UK referred to above -- it may not be up to date though - beware.

Hi, I get a different brand every time I get a new prescription. Zentivia is the best one, no horrible aftertaste. The one I got this time is Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate by Bristol Laboratories.
