Can this be a Lupus Flare after sun exposure?

Hi All,

I'm after some advice please! :-) I haven't had any skin photosensitivity symptoms or other skin involvement since I've been diagnosed with Lupus last year, the only rash showing was on my feet only in very specific cases - therefore it wasn't a major problem for me to have some sun exposure with the right precautions. After the sunny bank holiday weekend, I have been briefly out in sun, with SPF 50+ cream, hat, glasses, SPF50 body mist, etc...all good! On Tuesday I was mainly indoors and felt fine only slightly tired BUT on Wednesday I woke up with massive joint & muscle pains as well as synovitis and felt quite fatigued (even though I currently take quite high dose of steroid) and miraculously today no muscle or joint pain whatsoever but more drained and fatigued …. Can this be because of sun exposure even if it did not flare right away or next day on Tuesday?

Also, has anyone experienced an increase in photosensitivity/sun related symptoms of any kind whilst taking MMF?

All the best to you all,

This can totally be from the sun. Even if wearing sunscreen, it’ll take the energy right out of you. I notice a flare in symptoms a day or two after long car rides (4+ hours) because I’m exposed to the sun the whole drive.

If there is no shade, you won’t find me there.
