LUPUS AND ILD

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend. I was diagnosed with SLE in 1997 and developed ILD 2 years ago and I have developed this terrible cough which is getting worse everyday. Some times I will have a coughing fit for up to 30 minutes and sometimes longer until I get sick. My thoracic doctor doesn't seem concern about the cough. When I mention it to him he will do a xray and if my chest is clear he will leave it there. I am not on any inhalers either. I have done test for TB and it came back negative. CT scan shows that the ILD is stable. Just don't know what to do. I have tried all the over counter cough syrups in the pharmacy and some from the herbal shop.

I am just asking if any one as this diagnosis and have any suggestions. This is affecting me physically and psychologically.

Hi,I e gotILD and auto immune stuff .Rheumatologist reduced my steroids,hasn’t been successful.am now back on10 mgm.

I’ve been coughing more recently,sputum has been thicket

Ihave been using Ventolin through the ebuliser,also had chest cough medicine from the Pound shop.

Also suck mints,

dentist will go mad when I eventually get to see him.Iused to buy cough sweets from chemist. They were Swiss,Icant remember the name. Only snag,they did contain sugar.

I have to have the window ajar at night. If the room gets too warm,I will cough.

Poor husband sits with a throw and his beanie hat.

I have a telephone Joint appt next week with rheumatologist And ILD consultant,so whether they will have any suggestions I don’t know.

I forgot to ask if your cough is dry or productive.

There is an Interstitial lungdisease forum on health unlocked.

It’s not been going for long,so there aren’t many members,but so one may have an answer.a couple of people did get back to me when I posted about pain in ILD.

Sorry for length of post,butI kept thinking of things.

I hope you get some relief,it’s exhausting to keep coughing.

Thank you for replying, the cough is productive when I wake up in the morning. The mucus is think and yellow after that comes up then the cough is dry but I can feel like there is stings trying to get off my chest and not until they get dislodged before the coughing ease.

I also suck cough sweets and sip warm water but it doesn't help.

I have been to my GP a couple of times and they give me antibiotics which helps ans the cough reduced for some weeks then the cough worsens.

I always keep my windows open and I tried to sleep sitting up in bed too.
