I am only writing this post to let you all know that our son who works for the ambulance service in the UK has been taken into hospital having contracted vivid. It seems that he is in a bad way of breathing. It just shows how vulnerable our emergency services are. PLEASE be safe and sensible

Thank you very much. Naturally it is a difficult time as we live 130 miles away from him and his family, and we can't go up due to this

horrific pandemic. My wife suffers with Lupus, so we are stuck waiting for news.

I'm so sorry - my daughter is a nurse sent to work on Covid ICU and the other is a paramedic working in A&E. I'm you have lain awake at nights as I have dreading this result. I do hope he's OK. And it is high time that every dose of vaccine available was given to the medical staff first. I've been shielding all year - another couple of months won't hurt me.

That’s awful 😞 I’m so sorry your son has got covid - my niece is in the last year of her training to be a nurse and she has caught covid twice as she was put on the Covid wards, luckily she is young and fit. I do hope your son will soon be out of hospital xx

HiSorry to hear about your son and I hope he recovers soon. My daughter is a nurse and she has been redeployed to help with covid and it is a worry. I have to stay away from her and my grandsons because of the risks

Thinking of your son and so hoping for him to do well. It sounds like they reacted fast, which is now key to getting best results with all the new medications.

Do you know what they have him on?

Please keep us informed

Thank you very much to you and all the replies we have received. We are waiting for more news today. There is a possibility that they may let him home and keep an eye on him via their virtual hospital. They don't feel that he needs ventilation at this time. I think it is amazing that things like zoom are now available.

Thank you very much. He was due home today and would have been monitored by the virtual hospital monitor, but they have decided to keep him there and moved him to ICU. He has an oxygen mask on him. Our daughter in law is keeping us up to date.

Hoping he is out of ICU soon. just-typing. It is so hard that NHS workers like your son are having to risk their lives doing their jobs. Thank him from us when you get a chance. Sending hugs.

SO sorry to hear this JT. It is so unfair when somebody like your son helping others is struck down by Covid himself. I hope and pray his breathing improves very soon and that he makes a speedy and full recovery. 🙏🏻 I also pray that people act responsibly at New Year to keep safe others of those we all depend on when we are ill ourselves. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. 🙏🏻 🤗😘x

Thank you Spotty-ewe: we have not long ago received pics of him with his face covered by an oxygen breathing mask and a Canulla in his wrist. Very upsetting, but we needed to see it.

KayHimm profile image

So hard, I know. Must be hard to see those pictures. Maybe try to focus on how the oxygen is helping him to breath comfortably. They may have him on medications that could kick in soon.

Thinking of you and family.

Sorry to about your son. Hope he's recovering from this awful virus. The emergency services do such a marvellous job, while putting their own lives at risk. We all have to do the right things to save lives and to protect people like your son. Be strong, stay safe.

I am happy to say that although he is not out of the woods yet, there is progress. They take his breathing equipment off him at meal times, for an hour. He is still not there yet. However, he has been allowed to go to the bathroom alone, and he is texting us. Thank you to both yourself and the many well wishers for you support. I will put a notice on when he finally gets to go home. Love you all.xx
