Due to have flu vaccination this week can I have the shingles vaccine as well as I have just reached the age of 70?
Shingles vaccination: Due to have flu vaccination... - LUPUS UK
Shingles vaccination

Ask your consultant or gp as not everyone with lupus can have it especially if you take certain meds as it's a live virus in the vaccine
Hi Mags, I was having a chat with my GP about vaccinations and the shingles jab came up in the conversation. She said that I wouldn't be able to have it because it's a live vaccine. She said the general rule of thumb was live - no, not live - yes, but obviously you'd have to check your own personal circumstances.
Glad you're getting your flu jab, no word about mine yet. Take care.
Hi, I was told at a East Midlands lupus forum day, a big no! As it is a live vaccine, the pharmacist speaking said no live vaccines should be given to Lupus suffered xx
I got the Shingrix vaccine last year. It is not a live virus and more effective than the old vaccine.
Ask your rheumatologist about it.

It’s a live vaccine in UK. Not safe if you have SLE
Think you can pay to have the Shingrix vaccine in the Uk. That may be well worth your money as immunosuppressed people are exactly who will most benefit from this vaccine. Autoimmune patients cannot get the old, live vaccine.
Something to look into at your age.
