Lupus and tremors!
Hi Ndanusa. I’ve been thinking I get these quite often now. Caffeine and hurrying to do things bring them out.
Hi, I have noticed over the last year both my hands shaking. My left hand is the worst. I mentioned it to my rheumatology nurse, she didn't say anything, but put in her report that my hands were shaking. Other than that no advice/treatment was offered.
Hi Ndanusa, I’m sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with essential tremor, not very nice for you, particularly as it is affecting your life. I have an internal tremor in my core body and face that comes and goes. None of these are visible and although annoying, they don’t prevent me from doing stuff. I’ve had these tremors for the past 18 months, been investigated for APS and had an EMG/nerve conduction test, both yielded normal results. In the past 3 months I’ve developed a constant resting tremor in my right thumb. Currently having neuro investigations to rule out other conditions. Perhaps have a chat with your GP to see if there are any meds that can help with your ET. You may have already seen this tremor website, but if not, I have attached a link, some useful tips on managing tremor. I hope you find some respite soon, tremor is quite common amongst Lupies. Xx
Hi Ndanusa I'm still waiting for my conformation appointment for Lupus but I have had essential tremor for about 5 years now. I understand your concern as I'm a photographer and I did panic. Stress will make it worse I know it's easy to say. I do some excercises that have helped me. It doesn't take it away but makes you feel more in control. I do some relaxation excersises and then spend some time focusing on one hand at a time, you find by concentrating on your hand after some practice the tremor stops. keep doing this with each hand. I try to do it most days when I'm usually sat waiting for something. With me it does flare (especially through a stressful time or when my fatigue is bad)and then have eriods when it does calm down. Now when it's bad I naturally concentrate on my hands when I'm doing something, now and again and I find it more manageable. Like I said it doesn't stop it but during a flare it does help.
