Hip and Knee Pain: Has anyone had hip pain also... - LUPUS UK
Hip and Knee Pain
I have hip, knee, and ankle injuries from when I was a young athlete...I used to race downhill skiing...I had olympic aspersions...
Then I had a few major crashes, and my knees were totaled at 13...so much for that...
My pain is VERY intense if I sleep on anything that is too firm.
They have yet to claim I need any major reconstruction, even after two traumatic knee hyperextensions...I figure the scar tissue is messing up the scans because I let it go for too long. Never want to admit to a debilitating injury when you hope to be able to compete on a high level...
I'm sure my Lupus has made them worse, but mostly I figure lower body issues are 99% old injuries...
My experience is that injuries can and will be exasperated by uncomfortable sleeping surfaces. Consider your bed, and see if that might be causing this pain!
I had the same thing and had a knee replacement. I am sorry I did because the pain is worse now than before. I can actually feel it slipping around in the socket. Big mistake on my part but I know others that had it done and they had a good result. Think it over carefully before you do. I also have dry eyes and there is a prescription that helps that a lot, but if you don't want a prescription get the gel eye drops. They last longer than the purely liquid. Before you have surgery talk to a doctor about all your options. Good luck.
Your doctor will give you some thick gel you put in your eyes at night
I also have the knee pain and backs of my legs, I use Feldene Gel to rub on, Again you can get it on your script, but ask the chemist if they sell it as it may be cheaper.
When all else fails I use Masterplast Freeze spray, I buy it on e,bay and it is supposed to be for sports injuries (like when you see the coach run on a football field and spray a players leg etc). It works long enough for you to get to sleep. Good luck.xx
Hiya,
Yes, I have left hip probs, both knees, cervical and lumbar spine. I'm still in the process of untangling all my symptoms/diagnosis so I haven't got any words of wisdom to pass on as yet. My knees ache a lot I've had 2 set of bakers cysts rupture in the first year before my meds this is just the fluid draining from front knee to back it can be quite painful I only mention this because you say pain is at the back of your knees - do you have swelling behind the knees? Convex instead of concave - if you've had an X-ray I'm sure someone must of examined your knees. I think arthritic pain feels different to the tendon ligament stinging you get. Anyway at least they are looking in to it for you. Well wishes x jo
I changed my bed, it's really soft, cuddles me as I lay in it. Best buy of the year. Although I still get pain it certainly helped me sleep. Xx
Many thanks for all the replies , I will take the advise on board.
