Oh they're so cute! What are they again? Never seen anything like them before (don't get out much.... ho ho ho). Their faces look so unamused especially the one on the left! I hope you are OK Leuann... we're all here feeling much the same way.. sending a hug xx
They are Muscovy ducks... they can fly so people normally clip their wings but I don’t believe in doing that ... thankfully they stay in our garden, having said that, this time last year when I got back from France, Bianco (not pictured) had made her nest in one of our neighbours roof cavities 😂😂 thankfully she came back to our garden when she realised I was back 😊😊
Aw..she must have missed you/thought you'd left her! Lovely to hear she came back... I do love ducks... always have, they're adorable. Being in the countryside where I live now, it's like being in an aviary compared to my old home where it was generally just seagulls going on all day and night like sirens! Drove me batty... especially when I had migraines (often when still working :(. I had to wear ear plugs hah! I had my terrace doors open today and was serenaded by a cacophony of birdie sounds...wonderful... have no idea what most of them are (although will be using my RSPB handbook and listening to recordings on line to try and identify), but can certainly hear the hundreds of rooks, jackdaws (my fave - I even have one who visits me each day now... very tame.. even when I'm standing just by him ;), collared doves, wood pigeons, starlings, magpies and all sorts of smaller birds with amazing song. I just love it. There are a few seagulls here too but at least they don't own the joint as they did in my old town! I'm so lucky to still have outside space... just the right size as I couldn't manage my old garden the way I needed to. I miss all the amazing plants I put in over 12yrs though... completely transformed it. I'm in the middle of orderinng some pots and a variety of plants for a little year round colour (and bees/butterflies!)... and a new turntable so I can play my vinyl again! Gotta keep ourselves amused. I look forward to more pics of your feathered friends... don't be shy. Au reviour for now cherie xx
Oh my gosh, you were up in the early hours too! I didn’t manage to sleep until 3am, completely freaked out after Boris was taken into hospital.
Keeping yourself busy is so important. I had a go at gardening, namely chopping, I don’t have green fingers sadly but I love the garden.
Love the fact that you have a tame jackdaw, it is fab isn’t it! The mandarins are now letting me walk into the garden without immediately flying off. We also have two collared doves, such a love affair between them 😍
Stay well and enjoy those feathered friends. Do you have any mealworms, my possy go mad got them!
I love watching birds. The different species all have their own characters.
At this time of year as the young emerge you get lots of feed me's. At least that's how I refer to them. Just old enough to have left the nest but still used to being fed by their parents. They wait near the feeding station and just chirp feed me for their parents to feed them.
I also like watching the starlings who always arrive in noisy gangs and take over.
We haven't got much in bird life where I am at the moment so I miss all of that.
