Is this what’s called staying home?

Some people have a strange idea of what staying at home and essential travel is. Just watching the world go by this morning and our road is busier than a normal day with traffic and people out ‘exercising’. I thought the near £6M being spent on Boris writing to everyone was a waste of money but looks like it might be needed. On saying that you just need to hope they can read.

Rant over 🤪

Even so-called intelligent people don't get it. Members of our extended family went from home to Golden Cap for a walk - they walked for a couple of hours, I somehow suspect they drove to the carpark but I might be wrong as they COULD have walked. They also went to the nursery for plants (both over 70). Others with a large house and own garden plus 2 small boys allow one to play football in the carpark of the nursery next door and take them to play in a local playground. "But there was no-one there ..."

That isn't the point ...

It’s hard to understand isn’t it. I look at the people out and about today and wonder how they would cope if the were to be diagnosed with an illness that those of us here in the various communities have. They are only being asked to curtail their normal lives for a few weeks (hopefully), we have our illnesses for life.

I suppose it is the "you can't do ..." they kick against - whereas we look at it and think, hey-ho, it is what it is and by doing this we may save others ...

The thing that makes me laugh is that it looks like it’s the only exercise they’ve ever taken part in. They wait until a global pandemic and lockdown to decide to get fit 😳. Meow 😉

I am starting week three in my community of lock down by my governor. Our " stay home" does not only allow outside activity it is encouraging it but within reason. NYC closed some streets to traffic to allow for social distancing fresh air. We are allowed to jog, ride bikes and walk dogs with six feet between non family members. People are expect to still need to shop, have blood tests and many still need to go to work. My friends with lupus in the med field are not excused from work unless they use family leave time.

Play dates are discouraged by school and government officials. Our playscapes are closed to kids as are basketball courts but we are encouraged to hike staying six feet apart from non family members, walk the dogs on sidewalks again giving right away to non family members to allow for 6 feet of space between non family members. Walking our beaches( not warm enough in the north east of the us to sun bathe yet ) is still encouraged but in a few week we will see these beaches closed to sunbathers and swimmers.

Only one fifth of any workforce is really considered non essential. All that can work from home have been sent to do so but this still leaves a huge amount of people, mostly in lower paid areas who still work weekends, like industrial cleaners, grocery stockers, cashiers, delivery, pharmacies and factory workers.

Roarah, pretty much the same here, with the exception of hiking trails. For some reason Governor Newsome has gone to the extreme of closing all hiking trails. No matter where, how well used, whatever. I think that’s over kill, personally, and I think a good hike would take a lot of stress off people. But what do I know🤷🏻‍♀️

I think if people start to hide out in parks or when camping opens up here they will likely need to close our camp hiking trails. Our fishing licenses were issued early to allow people a chance to fish but solo only I believe.

We have so many hiking places. I love hiking and have rarely encountered crossing paths with others. So in the case of CV, easy to avoid others. Would keep exercise up and depression and isolation down. Gives people the opportunity to reflect, and I think reflection is something we all need. The world has become somewhat lost. Crass. Harsh. Inhumane (not everyone 😊as we witness on this site). But, I really thinking closing hiking trails here is contra-productive.

Exercise improves your immunity against virus by thirty percent! Meditation is proven to be even better at helping practicers immunities by 34percent in some studies. I think happiness vs depression is also shown to improve immunities. Being too isolated( from one's own household) and sedimentary will possibly be more harming than helpful over all.
