Lovely card misty , you have a talent!! I just had a lovely walk along the Lagan , very quiet and everyone good about social distancing, it was a glorious morning. My husband walked on at his speed and my son walked with me as he canβt walk fast either.
Look after yourself , keep well and keep smiling xxxxπΈπΈ
Wow! Very nice. Weβve got talent in this group!! πSeriously, very pretty. I use to craft and loved it, then my kids became 5 teens and I was a full time taxi driverπ€¦π»ββοΈ. I should try to get back to it (they have long since passed their teen years) but then fatigue hit and I do all I can to play catch up. But I should try and find something to do again. Especially with the isolation.
My two elderly parents and a disabled brother in one house - with sniffley - possibly infected- carers coming in for my brother - and because of my lack of immunity I had to say goodbye...... - to all of them a few days ago which was horrible.
Now I'm trying to tell them what to do over the phone to try and help them avoid the bug - but being my obstinate elders they're refusing to listen.
It's hair raising.
****How about you !?!*****

Oh. ps. Had a Rheumatologist tell me to reduce immuno suppression due to outbreak - and compensate with hydroxy. GP disagree'd - and told me the best thing was to remain well on the doses I'm on. Tried the Rhuemy's tapering down - became unwell with SLE and no hydroxy available here either..... So now going on my GPs advice ( who's probably taking hydroxy himself, along with his entire family at this stage ) and I'm feeling a lot better.
Oh freckle that's heartbreaking and hard but at least you did the tough thing to save your own health ( hopefully). We all really didn't need this added crisis and stress when we have enough to deal with day to day with relatives and our own health. I'm trying to get dad to follow the guidelines and it's hard so phone call is even harder for you.
Your Rheumy gave you such wrong advice about your medication. Mine and the BSR guidelines were to stay on usual dose don't reduce and if unwell it can't be increased !. It coukd have set you back months so thank goodness you got Hydroxy OK. That's another potential problem for us if it's confirmed as a covid 19 treatment!. Did you get your camera test before this broke?. I didn't get my toe op so just don't know when it will be now. Praying and hoping we don't get the cases in our part of UK. People so far are keeping to the strict guidelines. Hope they are for your area.
Sending lots of thoughtwaves for you all to be as safe and healthy as possible. Xxππππππππ
Thankyou for you're- as always very caring reply, especially with the added traumas going on right now.
I hope you're coping.
Just back from ( another) last visit to the parents. Stubborn old buggers π΅ - especially the fathers. ( apparently it's a thing - saw it mentioned in a news article - adult children having to deal with elderly parents who have become a bit too child like )
Thankfully not too many cases of the Covid19 in my area yet - and stocking up for the long haul has been a challenge. The elderly and sick are able to shop from 7.00 to 8.00am - with hats and face masks etc. Total clean
Thankyou for explaining and directing me to the latest lupus guidelines. π I'll be sure to have a propper look.
I so hope you can get that procedure done soon so you can get rid of that horrible pain. As for my pill cam - I don't expect it to happen this year ( due in May ) I've heard the Hospital that's doing it is running out of hand sanitizer - and most medical staff are being re - directed only to only life the death cases. (so just hoping the supply chain of my iron infusion stuff doesn't stop - otherwise I'll be in trouble )
Thank you for your wonderfully understanding message which I've really needed today.
It's interesting about the chaps as they are the ones who get covid the most and who don't follow the guidelines of washing hands etc either. My dad is like this and in times of stress becomes very childlike just what we don't need!. Do hope your brother is being cared for properly. It's all such an added worry for us.
I've just spent an exhausting afternoon ordering food online for my parents only to get to check out and no delivery slots available!. They release a few at a time so must keep checking website now. I feel I've let them down as shoukd have registered much sooner!. You must have known when to pop up dear freckle!.
I'm sorry too about your pill camera test being delayed!. Exactly what's happening in my local hospital as they've basically shut it down for covid and emergencies only!. Like you we don't have the cases yet and hope we don't as I'm frightened to get it like you must be too!.
I just don't know now when my surgery will be and I'm finding the pain hard to deal with as well as the restrictions!.
The ' invisible women ' book by Caroline Criado Perez is now no 1 in our bestsellers list!.
Do hope your iron infusion is safe in this crisis and we've now got Hydroxy supply fears after it was revealed as a possible covid treatment!. Always we have some aspect of our care to worry about but thank goodness we can do it together as we understand so well.
I won't keep you chatting as I can see you've got you're hands well and truly full - no need to reply.
But my father's nick name - even before he was elderly was - ' The Toddler ' and he can be quite touchy and react in a not so lovely manner when I just try to give helpful advice.....a kind of - how dare such a subordinate like me say anything, let alone offer advice. Putting the sexism aside - he's a not so great personality disorder on wheels really.
Lots of mixed feelings when I deal with them. Its always been a long term balancing act trying to figure out just how much I should help them and how much do I owe myself and my own sanity.
My sister's off work right now with the restrictions and I believe she's starting to pick up the slack with my family - so some relief.
We're just starting to try and to cope with the grocery delivery stuff ( at least where my parents live ) and those narrow and confusing delivery windows ? Lots of hoarding and competitiveness for food.
It's all very traumatic stuff. When it first started I told my family to get food in quickly............again - just me talking so they didnt shop quickly enough. It's absolutely mind twisting.
So........I hope you've got plenty of food to keep you all going.
Where I live my local supermarkets can't deliver - so a special hour near dawn π¨ to mask and glove up - for the elderly and vaulnerable to shop. Some people in full body raincoats in the dark during a hot autumn. Its something to behold.
( I'll read that book !!! )
Please stay strong and remember to tend to you're own needs......just that tiny little bit before others.
Freckle you are such a gem with your understanding, thanks so much for your lovely message. I'm glad your sister can now help take some pressure off you but its tough about her job.
Deliveries are like yours but I'm keeping checking the website to try to get a delivery date, eventually I will I'm sure.
I'm sorry your relationship with your dad has always been difficult and at tough times like this these things get highlighted!. I'm staggered at the oldies reverting back to toddlerdom and your dad was even called that!. My mum's sister has phoned today and she sounded like a 5 year old and yet shes only five years younger than my Mum!. Its mad but wonderful to share these things.
I've always been impressed at the way you look after yourself in these crises to help others and you've helped me so much with this. I did feel weird today as hadn't been out for a fortnight so did a little walk down our drive in the sun and I feel a lot better. We can't mentally just be banged up for so long without consequences.!. Theres been a chink of hope on the news today as they've said the distancing measures are starting to work and number of cases are slowing. It gives heart to carry on so I hope you get the same soon.
Don't feel you must reply either dear freckle and just take care and be safe and well Thinking of you. Xx
It's amazing how bizarre some people become under pressure- give me a little bit of time shut up indoors.......?.....
and the family vigourously skyping now.π
Coming from an isolated small town - those who are venturing out are becoming a little more abstract ( the thin veneer of civilisation is slipping a bit ) - along side a lot of stray dogs. I saw a very happy labradoodle today. Lucky doodle. ( he was taken home by a passing car )
I've been watching the news about whats happening in Britain and it looks awful. I hope you're OK.
Cases are going up here, but not too horrifically yet. Unfortunately a lot of the person to person transmission is happening in hospitals - but the government is being very upbeat and surprisingly reassuring.
So hoping you've got some supermarket food delivered by now.
Thank you for your lovely message and such understanding!. I'm glad your coping with your parents sky ping a lot and haven't got too many cases yet!. Long May that continue!.
Our cases are specially going up in the big cities like London and we are getting a lot of deaths which is sobering. I live in north Devon which luckily hasn't had the cases yet. Our local hospital has successfully treated one person with it whose made a good recovery thank goodness. I know it can change but I really hope it doesn't. A problem we may have is Devon and Cornwall are holiday areas and some people may come to their Holidsy homes and bring the virus with them!. We need the Police to send them back!. How about you?. Do you live in such an area like this?.
We had our supermarket delivery this aft I managed to get a coveted delivery slot!. Took me two days of keeping trying!. Given us three weeks worth of groceries and never have we been more grateful!.
Hope your ok with getting your supplies and your familikies?.
Keep safe and well too dear freckle and take care. Keep coping!. Thinking of you too.
Aaauh. Yes !!! .......I come from south west Victoria - my family lives on the coast - and me inland near a small mountain range. Both areas are tourist spots but the coastal areas had been utterly inundated with Melbourne people - both with caravans and heading for their holiday homes. Apart from anything else - these Melbourne ite's didn't understand there's a shortage of Doctors and medical services here - and that the supermarkets etc aren't big enough to cater for us and them.
This was at a stage where the Vic government was telling people only to leave their house if they absolutely had to - as there's community transmission in Melbourne. I was appalled to see the beaches full and resteraunts illegally open while terrified locals were staying inside.
Thankfully - a very angry premier clamped down. Caravan parks are now reserved for women who need to escape violent homes - and big fines for anybody who's not where they're meant to be when doing anything -un essential.
What's been really disappointing here is it's mostly young people doing the wrong thing because they think the virus won't effect them - and they don't seem to be giving a second thought to their vaulnerable contemporaries.
In Melbourne there has been some generational resentment due to housing shotages before the virus - so this has really layed it bare.
It's a pity you can't reinstate you're traditional borders there and close them down.
We have three cases here and six on the coast. ( all returned from overseas and isolating ) so things aren't too scary here yet - but the numbers in the cities are just beggining to look disconcerting.
IT sounds like freckle you live in a beautiful spot. The problems your describing are very familiar to us specially getting good , sunny weather suddenly!. We're hoping the Police are being tough as they have the powers now and on the junction for the south west on the motorway we hope it says Devon and Cornwall are closed in big letters!. Like you we haven't the cases yet and hope and pray it stays that way as in the big cities it's such a different , scary story.
