Let's get a Boxset Binge Watchlist Sorted!

Hi all, hope you all keep safe and well!

A nice light post, as we are all in this isolation together and with plenty of time to sit on the sofa binge watching all those boxsets we haven't had time to watch, let's share what we've been watching, got saved, or will be watching. We're all in this togther, so let's help each other get through this isolation together!

And ofcourse, there is no alteria motive with only one episde of FBI Season 2 left, none whatsoever 😉😆

Recently I have watched:

- Blindspot Seasons 1-4 - an absolute must watch. In my top 2 shows ever! Revenge from a few years ago, is the other in my top 2. Blindspot, a woman unzips herself from a bag in the middle of NYC. She is naked, covered from head to toe in tattoos from head to toe with no idea of how she got there or who she is. She has no memory whatsoever. Who is she? Where has she come from? Why does she not know who she is? And what do all the tattoos mean? Very gripping and complicated show, with many, many twists and turns. Complex and intriguing characters, but are the tattoos good or bad? They srt to unlock things that haven't happened yet and with a very deep and complicated meaning, code and pattern. The FBI work with her to piece it all together. Concentration is needed to watch, but it oh so gripping, you just HAVE to watch the next episode and Season 1 episode 10, is very, very interesting. Very reminiscent of Flight MH370. Please do watch, you will not be disappointed! Season 5 due out this summer and the incredibly clever writer Martin Gero, penned out 5 seasons before it began, so it's planned out. I cannot wait for Season 5, the cliffhanger from Season 4..... ahhhhh!

- Instinct (Seasons 1 - 3) - brilliant characters and character interaction, great humours and sarcasm. each episode is a separate case being investigated and character based storylines, continuing through both seasons

- Ransom (Seasons 1-3) - Great drama, with a highly trained crisis resolution team, getting results for people being held captive or carrying out acts for a ransom. Leader is against guns, so no gun crime, just pure skill and people profiling. Very good characters and character lead storlines through out. Each episode is a separate case

- FBI (Seasons 1+2) - Essentially like the CSI franchises (CSI, CSI:Miami, CSI:NY) but with the FBI. Good to watch.

- Manifest (currently on US pace, so just one episode a week now 😫) Surprisingly Season 2 better than season 1, it's more intense, and more action. The plot, a plane takes off and lands. No biggie, right? But there's a catch, as the plane comes into land, it's diverted to another airport and they are escorted off the plane, with police and media everywhere. It was 5 and a half years since they ot on the plane and took off - but none of them had aged a day and to them it was just a normal few hours in the air. Think it was Jamaca to California, but not sure now. How can this be? Where were they and how come they haven't aged? The passenger also find, things aren't quite as they seem, things are very different with them? What's going on and what does it mean? I would highly recommend, especially season 2!

So, over to you, any recommendation, what've you been watching or got saved ready for a bingefest? 😆😆

And, as always, stay safe and well (as possbile for us lupies) xx

Great idea Ceri.

I am currently watching Big Love about a polygamist family in America. I can thoroughly recommend The Blacklist, Dexter, Riviera,The Affair, Big Little Lies all on Now. On Amazon Prime New Amsterdam is fabulous, plus Goliath, three series and Bosh a detective series. On Netflix The Ozark is returning for a third series on Friday. A new series of Dead to Me is coming soon.

in reply toCecilyParsley

Oh no! Not Big Love!

Why? It is so well acted although I would like to see less of Bill Pulman’s bum lol 😳

in reply toCecilyParsley

I haven’t really watched it. I just know that people seem to confuse those polygamist groups with LDS. I’m LDS and it’s frustrating. These are break off whacko groups (sorry about the judgement). We, what they refer to as the main stream Mormon Church, LDS Church do not practice polygamy and don’t separate ourselves from the world. There are a few other shows in the US about different Polygamist groups that wear pioneer clothing and live off in the Deseret, as well as a few others. Even though some of these shows start off with disclaimers, that they are in no way a part of us ( the main stream church) people constantly confuse us as one and the same. It’s just frustrating, and while the other shows I’m mentioning are reality tv, this made up series goes even further in causing misunderstanding and bigotry to a lot of very nice, hard working, selfless, giving, family (one husband with one wife) oriented people. I’m sorry. I sound like it hit a nerve, don’t I 😆. Just please don’t confuse us. We are no way the same. (Sorry for the rant).

It is pure drama, utterly fictional, very far fetched. It actually has a Leader who marries young girls and he is seventy but he is very much the villain. It also makes clear that the family of three wives is outside of the LDS church. Anyone who confuses them is ignorant. I have to say I really am fascinated at how the women portrayed are happy to share one man and how the man in question is swallowing an awful lot of viagra .So sorry if I upset you xx

in reply toCecilyParsley

You could never upset me My Friend! 😊

I’ve seen a lot of reality tv shows on polygamy. I don’t think they are happy at all (most of them). They make the claim it helps them not to be selfish? Really? Then why isn’t polygamy both ways? No offense guys, but are my men by nature, more selfish than women? So shouldn’t it be the other way around? 🤣Just dating.

I like the one man/one woman thing. I think couples have enough of a time learning how to cooperate with each other, then children. They don’t need to throw more people into the mix. Just my opinion. Take Care my Friend.🙏

I agree entirely. Personally I would never be with a man who wanted to be with others. To be vows are sacred but I also believe in live and let live. If they are happy and they can raise children to be kind and decent human beings then they can get on with it. The child brides for the prophet is a step too far though. Dirty perverted old man

in reply toCecilyParsley

Ok, I thought I would open mindedly give Big Love a try. I found the first episode a little too graphic (yes director, we can get the idea of intimacy without watching it in every detail, Ugh!) But I sat through it. I started the second episode but turned it off. I’m sorry. Too much!

PS, the place the blonde wife’s family lives, known as ‘Short Creek’ which is two twin cities on either side of the Utah/Nevada border, Colorado City and Hilldale... my husband and I have driven the area twice out of curiosity. Last time was last July. It is the most creepy place I’ve ever seen. All properties have massive block walls around them. None of the businesses have any signage whatsoever, except the Police Department and school. It definitely gives you a ‘you’re not welcomed here’ vibe. And everyone stays enclosed when any strange cars come into town (like ours). From what I have been led to understand, there are cameras everywhere to keep an eye out for strangers. We saw one FLDS women in her pioneer garb and high ratted hair rushing back to her home from a park.

I’m not trying to be mean our judgemental, but just not a happy, open friendly feeling at all. And only one or two of the properties looked landscaped (from open gates) all the rest looked run down no matter the size of the home.

They aren’t allowed internet, tv, music, to go shopping in regular stores (though, I hear the nearby Walmart’s get a lot of them in).

They are totally isolated from the world (I guess they have been self-isolating for years? 😆🤣😂) Very sad.

Last year sometime, they had a massive storm and the creek flooded out the communities. A mother in a mini van filled with her kids was swept away in the water and many others were killed as well. A lot of these people have moved out of this area since. Idk where they have moved their community to🤷🏻‍♀️ (just a short personal observation about the real lives of these people). Not so ‘Big Love’ honestly. There is a TV show called ‘Escaping Polygamy’, a reality show. These women and the youth are very oppressed. It’s very sad. And don’t get me started on the group Bill Pullman is suppose to be from and one of the other groups associated. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyway Cecily, I tried. I just couldn’t do it. I whimped out!

Shamefully, I have only ever watched one ep of Dexter 😯 thinnking of giving it a proper go. Will have a look at trailers for the rest. Building quite a list now, thanks :)

Once you get into Dexter it really is addictive. I thought it was not my sort of thing but I got seriously attached to the character. I literally binge watched three episodes or more a night until I had watched all the series. Of course one of my favourite ever series is Breaking Bad. Amazing show

Ceri-NorthWales profile image
Ceri-NorthWales in reply toCecilyParsley

3 episodes a night is no binge watching :D I watched Blindspot Season 4 in 2 and a half days (only 2 eps left on the 3rd day) that was over NY - you just have to watch the next ep!! grrrr :D :D Season 5 due out in the US this summer..... I cannot wait!!

CecilyParsley profile image
CecilyParsley in reply toCeri-NorthWales

I have to say I was probably grossly underestimating my binging lol. I have to say I watched the whole lot of Burn Notice in a week and was so sad when it finished I actually cried. How sad is that? I live vicariously through my tv lol.

in reply toCecilyParsley

We have to binge Cecily. We are accustomed to it during bad flares so this is probably one time when life feels a little more normal to us, then most the population! 😊

Oh we have a lot in common!

Right- you would like Bloodline- with Sam Shepard and sissy spasick. ( spelling?)

CecilyParsley in reply toKellyInTexas

Oh I haven’t tried that one. I am so sad. On Now I watch Hawaii Five O, Blue Bloods, Magnum PI, Criminal Minds, The Rookie, Another great Netflix watch is Wanted it’s pure Women Power!!

Ceri-NorthWales in reply toCecilyParsley

Oh wow, The Blacklist!! Thank you so much! How have a not watched this before!? And I used to be a Samsung TV rep - ashamed! haha On ep 9 already :) You'll definitely like Blindspot if you like Blacklist.

In short, Red is esentially the tattoos and Roman in Blidspot - if you watched, you'd get what I mean by that. And by saying that I haven't given away spoilers.

CecilyParsley in reply toCeri-NorthWales

I know I was so addicted to the Blacklist. I hope they are filming more. There was another I liked called Suit about an art thief working for the FBI. Gutted when that ended too. Try Burn Notice and Breaking Bad two of my absolute favourites along with Justified, Banshee..a bit gory violence but great fun and Tin Star xx

Hi Ceri, my husband and I just finished a British Series, ‘The Stranger’. We really liked it. Now we are on to another British Series ‘Broadchurch’. Love it even more! We are up to Season 3, only 2 episodes left. Please! No spoilers!

Ceri-NorthWales profile image
Ceri-NorthWales in reply to

Hey Brook, yes I have heard brilliant things about both of those hows. Not watched either though. Will give Stranger a go, I'm thinking :)

Great idea. Noughts and Crosses was excellent - finished last week. Last Tango in Halifax - all series another one makes me laugh sometimes. Vera - I get in a muddle about which series I’m on though but ageing of her raincoat prob the indicator!

Homeland is winding up now - many box sets to go through if someone never started it. My son and his partner are rewatching all the Game of Thrones, still enthralled!

I love Last Tango in Halifax and Vera. Two of my favourites are Keeping Faith series 1 and 2 ( the music by Amy Wadge is amazing too) and Hidden. Both set in our beautiful Wales.

What about the wonderful Irish drama Blood? Nice to see an Irish work-

Great idea Ceri! I like the sound of some of your suggestions.

My favourite recently was ‘you’ on Netflix, I couldn’t stop watching for a whole day which I’ve never done before. Need to persist through the first hour or so as it’s a bit slow but then brilliant. So weird that most people (including me!) then end up liking the psychopath

X

Ceri-NorthWales in reply toMelba1

No comment from me ;) :D Will give it a go! Let's see if I follow the trend haha. You might like Hostages (US version) as it's similarish, but he's not a pyscho. From a few years ago, but I've not long re-watched that as well. About someone who kidnaps a surgeon and her family and the surgeon is going to carry out routine surgery on the President. However, the kidnapper wants the surgeon to kill him during surgery. His motives are unclear, but are revealed, as are the people involved an why all this. He even has the how sosrted, the kidnapper just needs the surgeon to carry it out. Good show.
