New NHS Steroid Energency Card

For those of us with Addison's or adrenal insufficiency, a new NHS Steroid Emergency Card has just been issued.

It includes directions for what to do in case of suspected adrenal crisis. For obvious reasons, this may be quite helpful in the current situation.

The idea is that you download and print it out from here

Thanks misty. I'm bearing up :) Biggest practical challenge atm is chronic migraine, which is limiting my time on the computer. Hope you're OK x

So sorry about the chronic migraines still there! I was going to send an update as I said last time but the self correcting facility for me for posts is not working. Helpline cant help and I make so many mistakes after last stroke. Computer son might be able to help!

I will send you a PM as want to discuss our similar adrenal issues! x

I'm so sorry Whisperit the migraines are still a big problem. Are you due a Rheumy phone call?. Years ago when I had them badly my DMARD was changed from MTX weekly to MMF daily which did the trick.

I'm bearing up like you stuck with this awful toe and no op. At least MTX is working, hoping it will sort out toe, now that would be wonderful.

TAKE CARE and let's hope this madness ends soon. Xx😊

Hi,

Could I have some advice please?

I have multiple autoimmune problems, and prior to Coronavirus my daughter was having some tests, and her morning cortisol levels were low. I am worried that her coming hospital appointment for tests (injections and then an hour wait) will get cancelled, and she'll slip through the net. I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks!

Not sure i can say anything helpful, MissusTee. Low cortisol is not necessarily very serious, the key is how responsive the adrenals are when called upon to produce more cortisol. Sounds like the tests are the short synacthen test? That will give an indication of how responsive her adrenals are to a stimulus.

I wonder if you can seek advice from your GP in the meantime? I too have an endocrinology appointment soon and am thinking of asking whether a virtual appointment via Skype or similar is an option. Even if this is not possible, your endo might be willing to talk briefly on the phone? Worth asking, perhaps? Hope all goes well in any case x
