I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia. I’m a primary school teacher. Should I stop going to work due to the Coronavirus? It’s so difficult when schools haven’t been closed. There are many vulnerable adults and children in these environments. We are not being considered. Thanks.
I am in the same position and last night decided I wasn’t going to take the risk. I had already spoken to the head during the day t say I was concerned, and then emailed him last night to say I’d made the decision to self isolate based on the latest government advice for people with health conditions. He was fully supportive and told me he completely understood. It’s really difficult when they’re telling us to avoid social contact but we’re not being told not to work... I hope you can either stay off or that schools will close very soon as there are a lot of vulnerable teachers at risk like you say.
Hi, I’m not sure what they meant about serious underlying conditions. They did not mentioned or explained which contusion are classified as serious. I got SLE and RA. And I work in hospital.
We are a few days ahead of most of the U.K. I worked in my classroom until the town closed schools this Monday. I followed the guidelines of hygiene issued last week. I stayed six feet apart and distanced the kids. Carried hand sanitizer, sent children home if sick and tried to remain calm. It will be a matter of hours to maybe days before your schools close just like ours have. Stay strong and safe.
Thank you all for responses. Schools are all closed now, anyway. Stay safe everyone.
