Hi all, sorry me again!
I have dicovered anti RNP positive on my blood results. I have looked it up and this brings up 'mixed connective tissue disorder'.
Could anyone advise before I bring it up with my rheumy?
Many thanks xx

Hi Aurali! Anti-RNP can be associated with lupus alone or as you have said MCTD. It also is seen in scleroderma and rarely Sjogrens. MCTD is basically one solid diagnosis like lupus but with characteristics from other CTDs. For example, someone might have a lot of lupus symptoms, positive labs with features from scleroderma (tight skin, telangiectasia, esophageal sphincter problems, severe lung problems) so they’d call it MCTD because it’s a mixed bag.
There’s not much to prepare for in this case. Your rheumatologist will be better able to guide you after reviewing all your labs and symptoms. Only advice I can give is make sure you write down all the weird stuff that’s been ailing you lately and take any pictures you may have of symptoms - swollen joints, rashes, etc.
I hope your rheumatology appt goes well and they can help improve your quality of life. Let us know how it goes! xx
Hi! I have the Anti-RNP too.
I’m a collection of CTDs. When the anti-RNP first showed up, I had a very extensive testing of my lung function, heart, and other organs to check if there was any damage there. None.
I have Raynaud’s and increasingly difficult gut problems. Rheumy’s aren’t particularly interested in my guts, but I’m not fond of theirs, so we rub along.
Sorry, I’m in a silly mood brought on by a very stressful week, and soooo tired. I talk daft when I get like this.
I do hope you get help and some reassurance
I too have raynauds, my left hand and fingers swell up so much I have to take my rings off as they cut in ☹ and I seem to have constant muscle/joint pain along with being able to sleep for England!!
Hopefully I will get some answers.
Thank you so much and take care xx
