Anti redness makeup.

Hi all!

I'm looking into getting some makeup which is really good at concealing my red bumps. normal make up won't cover it. Can you get a foundation or tinted moisturiser that does this, (with very high SPF). I need some reccommendations please, before I go out and buy some that doesn't work!

Thank you.

Hi Comeonpeeps, have you tried Estee Lauder Doublewear? It is 'normal makeup' but it does have a high coverage, and comes in a lot of different shades. Only SPF 15, but you can use it over your ordinary sun protection.

Hi, thank you. I'll bear that one in mind, is it costly? Do you use that one yourself? I'd prefer one with a higher SPF.

I do use it myself, recently bought my second bottle. It is pricy at £35ish, but the bottle does seem to last for ages. I have quite pale skin and find it difficult to get a good match with foundation.

Hi comeonpeeps, ebay sell sample pots of estee lauder double wear foundation from £2.99, so you could try it to see if you like it.

Hi, I use high spf moisturiser (or moisturiser followed by spf face sun cream) then green tinted BB cream (I've got the Loreal one) on the worst red bits before applying normal foundation.

Hello I find the Dermablend sos concealer very good. I then use my usual foundation with it. Hope you find something that works well for you.

I use IT Cosmetics CC Cream... it was made by dermatologists originally for people with rosacea as it also has skin care in it.. it has SPF 50 and very good but natural coverage I love it I’ve never used anything else since. You can buy it in Boots, Selfridges or actually you might find it on the shopping channels too which gives you a demo of how to use it and how it looks

Thank you. Do you need a moisturiser with it too?

I’ve recently started using Rosalique and I’m very impressed. SDF 50. I think it cost around £28 but you only need a tiny amount, so the 30 ml tube is going to last quite a while. I use a little moisturiser underneath.

I've read a lot of reviews that say it's very greasy!

I use the Rosalique one too. I have very sensitive skin especially around my eyes but so far so good.

Hello Comeonpeeps , I use Heliocare products. Protects against UVA, UVB, visible light and infrared-A with SPF50 and PA++++, they have amazing coverage and are designed with sun protection SPF50, .....and lasts forever. I use it every day and get a good touch of make up and full sun protection. Good luck in your search! :-)

I have never heard of that before . I have just had a look . Thanks for posting, it seems for people like us that would be a game changer .

You are more than welcome Britchick42 🙂 I had been using it since before I was diagnosed with SLE last year and even though I had not had photosensitivity issues or visible rashes on sun exposed areas of face/body, I continued using them just to be on the safe side overall. I like the products and are 'one apply does it all' . 😁 I also sometimes combine with Solbari SPF50 sun cream products and with the Heliocare pills when I know I get out and about a lot in one day.

That’s great . I was diagnosed 12 years ago and lived in the Middle East but didn’t have much reaction to the sun or so I thought it was just a result of taking antihistamines until I was finally diagnosed and some years I have no sun sensitivity at all and others my face can explode sitting in the car . I also have problems with fluorescent lighting in department stores and stuff so to be able to combine the two in one product and not look a sweaty mess would be helpful lol .

Good luck with them , I really do hope they work for you 🤞🙂

Dr Jart Korean skin care does a cica repair cream and it’s green based . You can use it alone or under makeup it makes a difference but it’s also looking after your skin . I used double wear for years living in the Middle East and but now it just doesn’t suit me so using something like cica repair helps me use something else . I have three favourites here . IT cosmetics cc cream often on Instagram with rose Gallagher who has rosacea shows you tutorials from scratch and for me it did an extremely good job with spf 30 in a foundation which is rare . It has a lot more coverage than you would think .

Lancôme Trent idole is a very long lasting one with good coverage too . I used it when I had to travel during the pandemic I put it on at 2am had a mask on throughout the airport and flight I got to Sicily mid afternoon and the coverage was really decent.

My next one is ysl after hours that works quite well for me . The ysl after hours conceal is brilliant too. So if my skin isn’t open sore I use dr jart cica repair cream ( they sell a small travel kit so my daughter got me that to try instead of shelling out for the full size without knowing if it would help me .) then I use ysl blue primer a ysl foundation but it’s not full coverage and I think they have discontinued it hence me not mentioning it . The ysl after hours concealer has been a game changer for me it makes full coverage foundation not as necessary as I can increase coverage only where I need it . I hope it helps .

Clinique do an anti redness foundation that is quite light so you don’t looked caked in make up. No too expensive and lasted ages.

LA cover girl (in green, green covers red) It only costs a few quid.SPF a swiss make called ultrasun. QVC does good offers. It has no colours or scents. I wear factor 50.

The best foundation I have ever used is NARS and tinted moisturizer. (Compared to lancome, loreal, no7, mac). I used to use garnier tinted moisturizer for years sadly they changed the formula and its not as good.

Most foundations are SPF 15 or 20. So I wear my SPF under neath the foundation or I mixed foundation and spf to create a lighter tinted moisurizer coverage.
