Don't post much but thought I'd share with how things are going, all my results show that my lupus is going in the right direction but unfortunately my kidney function keeps declining. Been burying my head in the sand regarding dialysis. Fast forward 2 weeks I now have a pre assessment booked in and 5 days later I have my appointment to get my catheter fitted to get ready for PD dialysis. Got to stay on it for a year then I'll be able to go on the transplant list as they wouldn't want the lupus to strike back onto a new kidney and I end up back at the start. There are a few words to describe how I feel but all I know is that our lives have changed forever now.

Not a happy end
I am terribly sorry your kidney function was not able to be preserved. Processing it all will likely take a while. Give yourself as much time as you need. Know there will be people you can talk to who share your experience and don’t hesitate to reach out.
Though I can’t know exactly how you feel, I am saddened by your post and taking time to reflect on what you are going through.
X Kay

Oh, I'm so sorry to read this, you have fought hard to avoid it. Sending you and your family lots of strength to get through this new stage. Sounds like you have a good team of doctors to support you? Perhaps Lupus UK can also give you some more information on dealing with all this. Best of luck with everything, S.

Dear Kitman, so very sorry to read what you are going through, you are clearly having to be so courageous now . Thank you for your brave post so that we can support you and send you our very best thoughts and wishes as you start your year of dialysis. If it might help you could look up about Selena Gomez, the pop star, who also had to have a new kidney because of her severe lupus.....and look at her now. With my huge support, Lily77

This is very bad news indeed - and as you say, life changing. All my sympathies are with you. Trying to think of a positive from this is hard - but from my own experience I know that sometimes the bad things bring new, different, good experiences in their wake. Not much comfort in the moment - but hang on in there, who knows what is out there for you in the future.
So sorry hun, I also have kidney function issues, early stage I think. I really wish you heart felt luck and I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you.
