I’m going to post this but then leave bc I keep forgetting and I have an appointment. I look forward to responses. I don’t have numbness and tingling. I have rashes but this doesn’t coincide.
At any time day or night somewhere on one of my legs I get the sensation of a needle being deeply poked into me. It’s worse than a bee sting bc it’s deeper. This has just started the last few months. I hope it has to do with the hives and not a new symptom. 🙏
It’s sharp One deep painful stick until I rub it. It wakes me from sleep.
Anybody? Thank you!

I have had painful stabbing localized pain since my stroke. My neuro called it centralized post stroke pain. It is very sharp and painful, like I am being stabbed with a knife so a bit larger than a needle and it is fleeting and quick. It has to due with how my damaged brain is interputing signals from my nerves and it is worse in bed but does occur during the day as well.
I do have a similar post shingles type of pain in the area where I had the rash. Sharp fleeting nerve pain. Is your rash unilateral?
It doesn’t happen with any rashes. I had a few strokes at 33. In 55 now. I wouldn’t think that symptom would start so late from that would you? This is like I’m getting a shot and the nurse doesn’t realize the ENTIRE needle doesn’t have to scrap the bone. It lasts a few seconds in one area at a time. I have started to develop small patches of eczema in other places. I wonder if it could be the beginning of more? Thanks Roarah!
I think the infarct damage is still there but it would seem a bit too long. I know it can happen months or even a year post stroke though. Have you had a recent MRI to check for silent infarct. They are a common occurrence post stroke as well. Is yours usually in the same area or does it travel from one area to another. Maybe neuropathy or entrapment. I think with a history of stroke a call to your neuro is warranted.
Edited to ask, are you on blood thinners still? If not maybe discuss an antiplatlet treatment or an anticoagulant. Xo
I had brain hemorrhages. I’ve never been on blood thinners but I know turmeric thins blood. I’ll stop that to see if that helps. It doesn’t mean over the years I couldn’t have had infarcts. I’ll talk to my doctor.
I get an MRI next month when I do my yearly check in with Neuro. It’s always somewhere in my legs. It’s like a bee sting but sharper and deeper.
I still think you’re right. I need to check with the Neuro. Thank you!
Sorry I assumed ischemic stroke with lupus. OH with a history of hemorrage I would stop the tumeric supplements. Spinal damage should be investigated as well as hips. Diabetes should be ruled out. I was told if mine continued to impede my life there were some drugs available to help lessen nerve pain but my ACT therapy is enough at this time for me since the pain, although horrible, only lasts seconds to a minute at most. Good luck! Xo
No sorry needed. You couldn’t have known. That’s why I think you have a good plan. Lupus is the new thing changing my brain. It needs to be evaluated.
I think you’re right about diabetes as well. This is the first time saying this out loud but I get extreme thirst. It’s also 100 degrees here every day. I’m hoping it’s just air quality.
My hip pain is what finally made me believed. I think a trapped sciatic nerve could be a problem.
It’s funny how I’m so unattached to my own body. I treat it like it’s not a part of my life. I guess that’s how I kept working through so much.
