Have you avoided taking prescribed medication because of the cost of your prescription, even for a short period of time?

Have you suffered any consequences from not taking prescribed medication due to cost despite having a pre-payment card?

Is your answer is ‘yes’, we would like to hear from you. LUPUS UK is a part of the Prescription Charges Coalition, who is calling on the Government to urgently reform the prescription exemption criteria in England, and make prescriptions free for people living with long term conditions.

If you would like to share your story and help make a difference to those living with long term conditions that are currently not exempt from prescription costs, please email your experience to Chanpreet@lupusuk.org.uk

Funnily enough my daughter has just written to the department of health about this and got her MP involved. The exemption criteria hasn't been reviewed since the 1960's so is well overdue. What angered her is that one type of arthritis is exempt but not another, one type of autoimmune condition is exempt but not another and why diabetes but not lupus? She struggles to pay for her meds and often goes without. She doesn't work due to illness but because her husband does, she cant get any benefits or free prescriptions. He earns just above the threshold for the low income family category so a Catch 22. Well done for taking this on and let us know if we can help.
