Last month I had an infection and stayed in hospital for 5 days with iv fluid and antibiotics. Since then my vein is still sore. Looks swollen to me too. Should I be worried at all? X

Did they just use one vein for the whole 5 days?

No

Difficult to say - I had one vein that gave me gyp, the others were OK. Often it depends if they catch a valve while in there or what other tissues get stabbed. It doesn't look infected in any way though.

Thank you. I will see what happens then

I had this and still have a small deep scar 4 years later.

“Superficial phlebitis is most often caused by an intravenous catheter (IV) placed in a vein, and the vein becomes irritated. Superficial phlebitis may or not have a blood clot form to cause the pain and inflammation. In the legs, superficial phlebitis can be associated with varicose veins.
