Is your heart rate elevated?

My regular heart rate is about 80-90. My fitbit thinks im working out 10h a day. I read about that the optimal heart rate during sleep resembles hammock. ouraring.com/heart-rate-whi...

I cant add another picture for some reason but the article says that the downward slope heart rate during sleep indicates the body is working extra and there is high metabolism. Anyone has the same thing? You can use fitbit to measure heart rate during sleep.

It isn't just heart rate overnight that is important - your BP should also fall overnight. The fitbit is OK as an indicator but you should ask for a 24 hour Holter ECG or BP monitor to get accurate information.

During the day my blood pressure is low. About 90-100/50-60

In the passed I’ve had ventricular tachycardia which end with me having an angiogram 4weeks after my 40th bday I still get it when my joint and muscle pain is bad sometimes I can be walking ok then wham my hart feels like it’s jumping out of my chest stops me in my tracks then 2/3 seconds later it’s like it never happened been back to hospital they don’t seem worried it’s just alarming more often I’ll also get it or notice it when I’m just sitting resting but it can take your breath away

Hi Ianrussell69 that is exactly the symptoms I've been getting, I've described it to family and friends as "My heart feels like it's in my mouth", it comes on suddenly and is gone within seconds and yes I can be active or at rest. I can also experience a sharp pain every so often in the middle of my chest. I haven't been to the GP because in the past, pre-lupus and Sjogren, my heart and lungs were checked by hospital specialists and deemed to be okay. In fact I think I've been into my GP surgery once since my diagnosis other than times I've put in repeat prescriptions and had my blood test checked by the nurse. As I've mentioned on this forum previously I did not get the support I needed pre and post diagnosis. I feel like I'd be bothering them with something they would consider trivial. I'm monitoring symptoms myself, at the moment it is not something that's occurring daily so that's good. If it does becomes frequent I think I'll just go straight to A & E.

Let me know how your doing with these symptoms from time to time, I'll do the same and let you know if things change :-) Take care.

Hi, I’ve had a weird - and raised- heartbeat with lupus. My blood pressure is low like yours but my resting heart rate is almost always over 90 these days.

What medication are you on? I found hydroxy got rid of the chest pain and pericarditis. Steroids can increase heart rate too.

I had heart checks but it was structurally ok and we eventually discovered mine was the lupus affecting the nervous system.

Have you measured yours in different positions? Especially lying to standing as lots of us have a problem where we get raised heart rate on standing. Mine goes up to 140-180 when the lupus is active in that part of me.

If you don’t want to see GPs, you could ask your rheumy to do the 24 hour heart monitor. Many of us have had this so it’s a fairly standard test they order. There’s also one that measures 24 hour blood pressure too although I had that recently and it was very annoying going off every 20 minutes!

X

Hi Melba1 thanks for your response.

I take medication for hypertension and I've had the 24 hour blood pressure monitor in the past. My heart rate was extremely high during sleep hence I was immediately prescribed medication. It's interesting what you say about raising from lying and sitting as I get very light-headed and feeling faint. I think this showed at the end of a work home visit this week as the person I was visiting commented how tired I looked.

I will mentioned these new symptoms to my Rheumatologist at my next appointment and ask about tests that can be done. I've been told my lupus is not affecting my organs just joints, skin and hair. I'm not on steroids only hydroxychloroquine and different medications for skin, eyes and mouth.

I get the sharp pain in the middle of my chest but not down my right arm or in my neck as this indicates a hart issue I was told at hospital

Mine almost always averages between 95-105 at rest.

Do you have any lung involvement, bengali?

Not as of yet at all, no. Have a leaky aortic valve in my heart though, which may be the cause of it.

It was one of the first things I noticed. I was a in the 60s gal and now even when my blood pressure is suuuuuuuper low and I’m half asleep I register around 88-93. It’s really weird.

Well low blood pressure and higher heart rate go together. It would be bad if you had both high rate and high blood pressure. Are your lungs OK? I have diminished lung function and im was wondering if that's why i have high heart rate...

katidid in reply to miccika1

Yes, I have reduced lung function. The only issue with a high heart rate for me is that it didn’t match my fitness level. It’s something I’ve been monitoring for decades. It’s not correct for my body, nor was my working heart rate and recovery time. It also correlates to my butterfly rash. So low blood pressure is coincidental. That being said, my blood pressure is normal on most days.
