new walking buddy

I have a new walking buddy. Almost a year to the day I lost my wonderful dog, Gus, I adopted Mandy. A 14 year old crossbreed pup [lol] who lost her owner last year. She has so much energy she puts me to shame as technically she is twice my age.

Now if she could only tell us the secret to high energy! Good food, fresh air, cuddles and a very comfy bed ? :) xxx

May have to do alot of throwing of frisbee or catch to burn Mandy energy off...hope she settled in, glad you gave her a new home & both of you can share cuddles... 💝🐕ML

What a wonderful gift of love- mutual! I have never had an animal that I “rescued” that didn’t pay me back 10-fold!😍 My dear feral cat Sydney (I rescued her at about 4 weeks old and she lived her entire life with me) passed 2 years ago after cardiac arrest. She was gifted, in that she could detect seizures in daughter and alert her ahead of time. I miss her very much. I wish you all the best with Mandy as you bond! 🍀❤️🍀❤️🐕

Aah, what a lovely looking dog - thank you for sharing the picture to brighten my day - and I thoroughly approve of the very comfortable looking bed! Have a wonderful time with your new friend. Very best regards, Lily

My Tammy helps me enormously. She gives me a reason to get out of bed every morning and is very patient when we come to a hill! They really help chase away the blues!

She's a cross breed too, half retriever and poodle.

Wonderful! My reason to get out of bed (he insists) is a rescue, too. It’s an old joke, but I don’t rescue dogs, they rescue me!

Should you ever feel Mandy might enjoy longer walks than you can manage, I can recommend the website “Borrow My Doggie”. Blue and I have made friends with borrowers who take him off on long adventures. To join, the owner pays a small fee, as do the borrowers, which covers checks and insurance. Otherwise no money changes hands and people who want to walk a dog but can’t keep one at the moment can benefit from those who have a dog but would like them to have more fun.

I do hope you have much love ahead with your buddy x

There's Iggy Pop's Candy, too, if you change the lyric a little!

'Mandy, Mandy, I can't let you go

All my life you've haunted me, I love you so' xxx

Oh yessssss!! Funnily enough I'm listening to Iggy's show on 6music( other music stations r available)🤠🎶🎼xx

I had never had a dog, until we took in Lass, 12 yrs old. I know the more I walk the better ‘oiled’ my joints are.

Lass is like a puppy in the mornings, and like the old lady she is in the evenings!

this little rascal is like a 14 year old puppy almost nonstop energy with a few naps in between. If only I had a fraction of her energy, she is certainly keeping my joints oiled :)

How brilliant Suzannah - so pleased for you and the older teen with bounce! Hopefully it will be infectious!! Xx
