Plaquenil

Hello everyone,

I’ve started taking plaquenil I’m a week in now and I’ve noticed that my hands turn purple and orange , I do have Raynauds however im a lot more purple now than I ever have been just wondering if this is a normal symptom?

In some rare cases hydroxychloroquine can cause some skin discolouration, although this generally occurs on the legs. If you are concerned that what you are experiencing is a side effect of the drug then I would recommend discussing it with your doctor for their advice about whether to continue with it or not.

I took Plaquenil for six weeks but neither my hands nor my feet changed colour.

I have Sjogrens and APS stopped taking it as I stopped sleeping and lost my appetite.

Did you experience those symptoms straight away?

I had a pretty bad raynauds attack last week my little finger stayed purple for quite some time. I am eating normally and everything else seems to be ok at the moment.

Hello

The symptoms started three days later and getting worse till I stopped taking them six weeks later. My fingers and toes were normal in colour. Glad you can tolerate it.
