Heya, can nose bleeds be part of lupus? I read it up and I’m sure it said it is, because I’ve had 4 nose bleeds today and I used to have them all the time I got rushed into hospital with them when I was younger as I lost a lot of blood which made me pass out and I haven’t had them since and I had some 1 lastnight and I’ve had 4 today so was just wondering if nose bleeds is part of lupus xx
Nose bleeds : Heya, can nose bleeds be part of... - LUPUS UK
Nose bleeds
I am unsure but when I was flaring pre diagnosis I had two when I had never had one before in my life. I think it may be flair related as perhaps blood pressure goes up/down or some blood vessels burst either way I would mention it to a doctor.
Wow so have I
I got nose bleeds in the early days of diagnosis, having never suffered with them before, but , happily, they seem to have stopped now.
You should get them checked. Your gp may take some blood to check for your clotting. i had this problem many years ago before i was diagnosed. Do you get much bruising?
I had several pre diagnosis for SLE and a few afterwards. Its not dripping from my nose like it used to but occasionally I get small bleeds inside, they clear up within 2 or 3 days. My nose is uncomfortable just before any bleeding starts but once the bleed stops its ok again.
I definitely put it down to Lupus as it was on the list of symptoms the first doctor that I saw to get a diagnosis, gave me. All the problems I'd been having were there, including nose bleeds xx
Yeah well this morning I woke up in a pile of blood from a big nose bleed I’ve had 4 today so I went to the doctors she said it will be part of my lupus so she gave me some cream to put up my nose and just got to wait for my appointment to come through to go see a rheumatologist xx
Hi. It can be scary, right? I have some because of a clotting disorder (Lupus and APS), but noses can bleed for high blood pressure, as far as I know.
I get some cuts inside my nose when flaring... not sure if it is related.
While bleeding try to keep your head above your heart level, not standing, sit or reclinate in a comfortable position looking up and not to the floor... this makes harder for the blood to reach your nose. See if applying pressure with your fingers to your nose helps to control the blood flow ... oh and breathe through your mouth
Hope you Dr can come up with a diagnosis and treatment!
