I'm really proud of my wife, Frances and so I wanted to share how we got on in the Great East Run yesterday. Frances wanted to help me raise funds for LUPUS UK so at the beginning of the year she signed up for her first ever half marathon; one of the ten half marathons I'm completing this year. She has trained really hard despite a very hot summer, long hours at work and us moving house a few weeks ago.
We completed the run in a time of 2 hours, 32 minutes and 7 seconds.
Frances has also come along to cheer me on at most of the races. We get a lot of funny looks and she takes it in good humour. After all, it is helping to raise awareness.
Well done Frances! - and Paul again! And I see now you are in a Wolf outfit Paul! Hahah... wondered what it was about! Der. Poor Frances's knees looked like they took a battering... Hope you are treating yourselves to a massage. Fantastic x
Paul, what an amazing achievement! Congratulations to you and Frances! Love the photo! Has Frances caught the running bug now? Pre hip problems and lupus, I used to run and I loved it. I still miss it. It's a great way to de-stress and keep fit. It gets you outside and in the fresh air. Plus you only need trainers. Having said that, with your 10 half marathons being in a wolf costume in the hottest summer we've had for a long time, I guess you are looking forward to a break from it ans your weekends to be your own again, together. Well done! Wendy
I don't think she caught the running bug - she was in a bit of pain but was determined to achieve it. I am looking forward to finishing the 10 half marathons to get some of my weekends back, although I'm sure I'll miss the events and be signing up for more again next year.
