Has anyone had lip fillers done who has lupus? I would love them done but was diagnosed with lupus 2 years ago but I’m wondering if I actually have this ? I don’t seem to suffer with any of the attack’s and rashes everyone gets and I’m beginning to question have I got this ? I seem to be able to sit in the sun and never get a flare ? Any advice ?
Regards

I would recommend that you ask your consultant about this, but I believe they will probably advise you against getting them done. There is always a risk when adding a foreign substance into the body that it could trigger an immune response in someone with lupus - and once you've had it done, it cannot be undone.
Not everyone with lupus is sun-sensitive. Around 60% of people with SLE will develop a photosensitive rash, whilst around an additional 20% may experience other sun-induced symptoms (such as fatigue, headaches or joint pains).
Was your lupus diagnosed by a rheumatologist following blood tests and examinations? Are you taking medication for your lupus?
Having chemicals injected into your lips would probably not be a good idea with or without Lupus.
I know, I know ......lots do have it done...but Investigate the bad outcomes.
Nobody, even the most experienced clinician can predict the outcome, but
If after you have spoken to your Lupus doctors & got their approval, you decide to go ahead, do make sure whoever you go to is medically qualified, & can support you afterwards. That is not a cheap exercise.
Whatever you do ....don't go to whoever advertises in the local beauty salon.
