I have taken the hormone tablet years ago to prevent my period before lupus dx
However 7 years into dx 2 flares of nephritis 4
Migraines and 2 miscarriages when it came to birth control my dr insisted on the copper coil I said why and she said you can't have hormones because of the above
So my holidays coming up and my period due 🙄
I've been reading the pill they give you can be used with caution in lupus patients and it will only be a maxim of been on it for a week however I'd rather have a period than get a blood clot or flare
Anyone have any knowledge or experience
I would greatfully appreciate it
Xx

I’ve no diagnosis at this time but all attempts at taking any form of contraception have sent me into a flare up within 24 hours. My body naturally flares during the spike of hormones during my cycle.
Of course everyone is different and responds differently. I think if you were to try this method, take it before you go to see how you respond. Nothing worse than ruining a good holiday .
I recently had some issues with birth control my self. I am unable to take the pill due to risk of blood clots/ Lupus.
I bled through my contrecptive injection and I got the implant.
I bled for just over three months on this and my dr put me on the POP pill with it.
Now I did try to sort this before holiday but the dr was reluctantly as flying also increases your risk of blood clots so I was still bleeding on just the implant when I went, I had to resort to tampons so i could go swimming/ water parks.
Luckily with the POP (pesdedtrion only pill) and the implant I have settled now
I also have lupus sle and lupus nephritis stage 3b. Also can’t go on the pill but in terms of postponing a period for holiday, I’ve used norethisterone very safely. My dr was happy for me to take it for the duration of the holiday as long as I continued with the aspirin. However it is not a birth control pill just a period delay.
