If you suddenly start exercising after a long time of being sedentary your muscles will hurt at the extra strain you are putting on them.

However you should consult your GP to make sure you are fit enough to exercise,& ask him to point you in the right direction to build up your exercise regime safely.

There are many exercise classes available where a professional will assess the type of exercise you should be doing. If you are attending an exercise class, speak to the instructor & explain your problem.

If you are fit enough to exercise......don't worry ...everyone's muscles hurt when they first start exercising.

As I said you should see your doctor or a physiotherapist who will assess if you should be attempting any exercises & will advise you where to go to start slowly.

Yes Ava it does hurt, but only a professional can tell you it hurts because you shouldn't be exercising yet or if it's of the "No pain No Gain" variety.

I still hurt after years of doing my stretches in the morning, but I know the stiffness will wear off quicker if I loosen up.

If you never do any exercises you will stay stiff & stiff muscles hurt.

But you must have an assessment or you could do more harm than good.

I think this is fairly normal after just starting to do exercise again!

I certainly don’t think u should never exercise just maybe take it slower and do a different type of gentle exercise until ur body gets used to it??!

Is the pain going from the outside of your thigh to knee?

Are you doing gentle stretching before excersise?

You need to do some very gentle stretching to build the muscle flexibility and strength otherwise the muscle will be suddenly shocked by excersise.

I'd recommend getting DR Lams tai chi for arthritis from amazon. It helps strengthen muscle gentle and build up your core before embarking on any strenuous exercise. Its designed by a rheumatologist for people with arthritis, joint and muscle problems.
