Hi, I have been taking plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) for 30 years and it has been fine. No side effects. Hope this helps.

I'm on mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) and hydroxychloroquine. I was on methotrexate for years and it stopped working. I tried azathioprine but it made me very ill. Your consultant should advise. Good luck.

I have them when required for back up. At one point I was on large doses for 18 months which I hated.

Sorry cause I take the same medication as you the highest dose off mycophenolate mofetil and 40mg of prednisone steroids and 200mg of hydroxychloroquine and nothing is changing been on them for 3 years now and the MMF for 1 year. Do you suffer from any side effects from the MMF?? Sorry to ask so many questions I'm just really struggling ATM and struggling to get my head round everything I feel like I've hit a wall x

Ask as much as you like. The walls I hit have been devastating. You will have ups and downs. Try to stay hopeful. We have one hideous condition to live with. I don't personally have side effects. Maybe find the top lupus specialist in your area and ask for a referral. Always here if you need support Charl1503

I was on hydroxychloriquine & mycophenolate but now the dose of mycophenolate has been reduced & methotrexate introduced. Good luck with your meds

I think it depends on your response to it... I tried Plaquenil and I never felt ok, for me it is better the methrotexate and MMF combined

I,ve been back on methotrexate for 20 weeks now with no good results so far am only getting worse. Am limited as to what they can give me as had me on chloroquine for 30 years and it's robbed me of my eye sight.

I didn't do well on methotrexate, but azathioprine helped (also on Plaquenil and Prednisolone)
